Review: Marvel Universe LIVE! Age of Heroes

Review: Marvel Universe LIVE! Age of Heroes By: Randy Jennings I’m not sure who was more excited to see the latest Marvel show, me or my eight-year-old son but " Marvel Universe LIVE! ” is certainly an opportunity for family members to bond and geek-out together! The live-action show, heavy on special effects and stunts, is on tour now and just came my way to the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, CA. This was my first time going to this arena so I was excited to get a peek inside to see the layout and the show’s constructed sets. Hundreds of fans were walking in and I was overwhelmed by the cuteness of children all wearing their tiny Marvel costumes to show support for their favorite hero. Before the show starts, at first sight, the stage is unimpressive but when the show begins, the magic happens. To our surprise, we’d see the once boring, single-colored stage now illuminated with a full environment, which was digitally projected from above with the latest technology. The show...

@FunkoDCLegion Review: March 2017

Legion's DC LEGACY box pushes the boundaries of Funko cool. Review by Matt Cummings We were mightily impressed with January's DC LEGACY, a sub box that pushed the boundaries and shook off some dust that had accumulated on Funko's business plan. And even though our box arrived damaged, March 2017's arrival takes a slight step sideways with SUPERMAN, celebrating the classic character with a collection of great products that once again stretch the genre into exciting new territory. The Promise Before we begin, let's look at the deal again: promising a value of $50, the sub continues the tradition of Funko partnering each time to deliver an exclusive figure and t-shirt without the fluff or filter (their words). Joining at the VIGILANTE MEMBERSHIP, members receive 6 boxes every year, with the promise of an exclusive themed collectible gift on the one-year anniversary of your annual membership pf $150 p sh/h. You can also subscribe at the SIDEKICK...

@FunkoDCLegion Review: January 2017

Legion's DC LEGACY box pushes the boundaries of Funko cool. Review by Matt Cummings With a November BATMAN VILLAINS that exposed Funko's long-term problem with all of their lines (that is, a serious amount of fatigue), January 2017's sub box is a startling lesson that perhaps the company has actually listened to fans, taken the heartbeat of the sub box genre, and arrived at a terrific solution. You can also subscribe at the SIDEKICK LEVEL at $25 with $6.95 shipping. That's literally the same deal as Marvel Collector ...

#MarvelCollectorCorps Review: December 2016

Marvel Collector Corps ends 2016 on a high note with their very good X-MEN box. Review by Matt Cummings It's been an interesting first year for Funko's Marvel Collector Corps. Having experienced a terrific opening, the subscription box service descended into chaos with its disastrous Marvel STUPOR BOX and August's less-than-awesome SPIDER-MAN. With October's DOCTOR STRANGE, we witnessed the uneven nature of what these boxes have become, displaying Funko's best and worst faces and making us wonder if our money would be better spent someplace else. As the final box of the year arrives in X-MEN, we see all the splendor of what a great box can deliver, even though we've been able to read between the lines of Funko's message. The Promise Before we begin, let's look at the original deal and MCC's current offering: promising a value of $50, regular boxes would keep the "fluff" (their words) to a minimum with Funko partnering ea...
