#Baywatch Tanks At The Box Office

It was smooth sailing to the top spot at the box office for " Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales ," but the waters were choppier for the Dwayne Johnson comedy " Baywatch ." Studio estimates on Sunday say the fifth installment of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise commandeered $62.2 million in its first three days in theaters. The Johnny Depp-starrer is projected to take in $76.6 million over the four-day holiday weekend. It was the second-lowest domestic opening for the nearly $4 billion franchise, but the latest film, which cost a reported $230 million to produce, has massive international appeal. Its four-day global total is expected to hit $300 million. Having the majority of profits come from international receipts is not worrying Walt Disney Studios. "This is a trend that we've seen play out over the course of these films," said Dave Hollis, executive vice president of distribution for Disney. "...

Movie Review: #CHiPs

The raunch of CHiPs makes it a great comedic ride down the California highway. Review by Matt Cummings As a young teen, I spent more than enough time in front of the television, absorbed in now-forgettable series like CHiPs . But there are elements of this campy comedy/drama that still resonate: the excellent motorcycle sequences, those awesome Harley Davidsons, the groovy Big Band music from Season 1. Its revival in theaters this week reflects little of the series' original DNA, but it still works as a hilarious raunchy re-imagining and perhaps a blueprint for a potential franchise. As the FBI pursues corruption within the California Highway Patrol, it assigns one of its agents (Michael Pena) to go undercover as Frank 'Ponch' Poncherello, who secretly harbors sexual desires for any woman in yoga pants, masturbating three times or more before lunch. He's teamed up with the oldest recruit in the CHP, the former motorcycle stunt rider Jon Baker (Dax Shepard...

Enter For A Chance To Win Passes To See CHIPS In Albuquerque

Enter for a chance to see CHIPS on March 22 at 7:00 PM in Albuquerque. Jon Baker ( Shepard) and Frank Ponch Poncherello ( Peña ) have just joined the California Highway Patrol (CHP) in Los Angeles but for very different reasons. Baker is a beaten up pro motorbiker trying to put his life and marriage back together. Poncherello is a cocky undercover Federal agent investigating a multi-million dollar heist that may be an inside job—inside the CHP. The inexperienced rookie and hardened pro are teamed together, but clash more than click, so kickstarting a partnership is easier said than done. But with Baker’s bike skills combined with Ponch’s street savvy it might just work…if they don’t drive each other crazy along the way. See how to enter after the Jump... Kristen Bell Joins Upcoming #CHIPS Film

With Dax Shepard announced as writer, director and star of a cinematic take on cult cop action show CHiPs, we put out a quiet call to the universe for his wife, Kristen Bell to join him. Whaddya know? The universe heard us! Or… Dax just decided it was easier to cast from within his family. Yes, Bell has boarded the film, which finds Shepherd as Office John Baker , who, along with fellow police biker Frank “Ponch” Poncherello (Michael Pena) , must keep the highways and byways free of crime. Which won’t be easy when you’ve got Vincent D’Onofrio as the main villain of the story. Adam Brody and Rosa Salazar are also signed on for the movie, which adapts the series that ran between 1977 and 1983 in the States. Shepard is gearing up to shoot soon for Warner Bros. Bell most recently worked on Melissa McCarthy comedy The Boss (formerly known as Michelle Darnell) and also reprised her role as Anna for the Frozen short Frozen Fever which played before Cinderella this year.
