BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Our Top 10 Marvel Films: 10-7

We rank our top 10 Marvel films so you can yell at us. Story by: Matt Cummings If anyone had told us back in 2008 that Marvel would become the profitable franchise in recent history, we would have laughed them out of the room. Who could blame us: after selling their soul (and several famous properties) to Fox and Sony , Marvel rebounded with an impressive list of their own films. But of the entire universe, which rank the highest and which deserve to languish in the Blu-ray bargain bin?   DC had better get its act together, before Planet Earth forgets them entirely. To make it easier to read, we've broken it down into two articles.  We'll release our top 5 list sometime this week.  You'll soon see why we only took four this time and not five. Here now is our top favorite Marvel films from 10 to 7: 10) X2 (2003)  Up to this point, we hadn't seen a film quite like X2 , a film which actually upped the stakes for comic book movies by outdoing the o...

Another Top 10 Movie List For 2011

Yesterday I delivered RAMA's Top movies of the year and today Heat Vision released their top 10 movies of 2011. Time and repeat viewings often change perceptions. But as of now, this sunny week in December, these are the movies I will take from this year. 1. Drive : By far the coolest movie of the year. The look, the mood, the mere 26 (or so) lines spoken by Ryan Gosling’s Hollywood stunt driver by day, getaway driver by night, add up to an electrifying film by Nicolas Winding Refn. You come away with the same kind of feeling you had after watching Reservoir Dogs for the first time. 2. 50/50 : The cancer comedy the world didn’t know it needed. Will Reiser’s script based on his own experiences of living through cancer while in his mid-20s could have gone north of maudlin and south of funny, but in the hands of director Jonathan Levine it balances the right tone at all the right moments. It helps to have Reiser’s alter ego played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, one of the best act...

Michael Fassbender As Magneto Or Villain In Spiderman Reboot?

Michael Fassbender As Magneto Or Villain In Spiderman Reboot? Michael Fassbender had a hot year last year, in Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglourious Basterds,” and this years "Jonah Hex". Now Fassbender is in–as his “Basterds” David Nivenish character might say, a bit of a pickle. He’s being pursued, I hear, for two different Marvel comics movies. Matthew Vaughn is said to want him for “ X Men: First Class .” Fassbender would play young Magneto , the precursor for Ian McKellen’s later character. James McAvoy is already signed to play Young Xavier. At the same time, Fassbender is being pursued to play the villain in “ Spider Man 4 ,” aka “No Toby Maguire Here.” Two different movies from Marvel, but two different studios: Fox for the first, and Columbia for the second. He can’t do both. Either way, Fassbender can’t lose. He’s got four films coming out in 2010 alone including “Jonah Hex.” By the time he’s a supercomic villain, he’ll be a bona fide movie star. Plea...
