BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Glass Rules The Holiday Weekend

For the long weekend, it was Glass that scored the top spot, earning $47 million across four days. Despite that apparent success, M. Night Shyamalan's long-awaited follow-up to Unbreakable and slightly less long (but no less anticipated) sequel to Split still emerged as something of a disappointment in terms of earnings, falling a hair below expectations. Still, with a $20 million budget and more than $95 million worldwide after a few days on release, it's hardly a flop. Glass Movie Review 'Found myself in love with the look, the feel, the characters all over again'- Glass pushed The Upside down to second place, where it made $18.3 million in the four days. Aquaman has now spent five weeks in the charts and it's still swimming strong, dropping to third on $12.5 million. Yet perhaps a bigger story than the arrival from Shyamalan's latest was the surprise success of an anime title. Dragon Ball Super: Broly was released on just 1,236 screens compare...

Movie Review: Split

23 personalities, all of them bad. Review by Brandon Wolfe After finally bottoming out of the event-movie game with 2013’s After Earth , M. Night Shyamalan’s latest twist has been to reinvent himself as a craftsman of low-budget horror. This transformation began with 2015’s surprisingly successful psycho-grandparents yarn The Visit and continues with Split , a similarly grubby/schlocky multiple-personality thriller. This downgrade makes a much better fit for the man who made the low-key Sixth Sense and Unbreakable , but it doesn’t fix the unevenness that has long affected Shyamalan’s work. The Visit was frequently effective, but had significant tonal issues. Split is much less effective and its issues are even more pronounced. The film begins at a birthday party for Claire (Haley Lu Richardson), who has invited her entire art class from school, including, out of a sense of grudging inclusiveness, outsider Casey (Anya Taylor-Joy from The Witch ). When Casey is left without a r...

Movie Review: The Visit

Prepare for some grandparent-abnormal activity. Review by Brandon Wolfe Observing M. Night Shyamalan’s career over the past 16 years has been akin to watching a once-bountiful balloon leak air at a steady pace. His breakthrough film, The Sixth Sense , was an exceedingly well-crafted piece of work, skillfully written, directed and acted across the board. His follow-up, Unbreakable , perhaps lacked a small amount of that same craftsmanship, but still stood as a sterling effort. But then Shyamalan cranked out a progressively inferior assemblage of films, from the uneven Signs to the inert The Village to the risible Lady in the Water . By the time he unleashed the disastrous The Happening upon the moviegoing populace, it was curtains for any cachet he once enjoyed. An M. Night Shyamalan film was no longer a tantalizing event brimming with cinematic promise. His very name had become a warning label, a helpful alert for prospective buyers of an inferior product. After a couple of swi...

Unbreakable 2 To Be A Part Of The Night Chronicle Films

Unbreakable 2 Do You Really Care? First off I am not a huge fan of M. Night Shyamalan's films. But I did enjoy the movie Unbreakable . If you have seen the film, I am sure you are just like me wanting a sequel to the film. Well we  finally got some news from the man himself. As you know these Night Chronicle films are idea's the Shyamalan comes up with but has other writers and directors come in to develop it. The upcoming film Devil is the first Night Chronicle movie. "Unbreakable 2" story will indeed hit the big screen, but as a completely different film. "I cannibalized the idea for the sequel to 'Unbreakable' for one of the 'Night Chronicles,'" revealed Shyamalan. "It was such a cool idea for a villain, and it was actually originally in the script for 'Unbreakable,' and it was too much," he said of his reasons for excising the element that was intended to become "Unbreakable 2." "There were too ma...

Actors Join M.Night Shyamalan New Project

Actors Join M.Night Shyamalan New Project I am still waiting on news for a second film which will continue the story from " Unbreakable ". In a September 2008 article, Shyamalan and Samuel L. Jackson said there was some discussion of a sequel when the film was being made that mostly died with the poor box office. Jackson said he was still interested in a sequel but Shyamalan was non-committal. And from the Previews of " The Last Airbender ", doesn't look half bad. Never bothered to watch the show on Nickelodeon, maybe cause I have 2 little girls. But I do like what I have seen. I have always like the twists and turn in his movies, you think you figured out the movie and then Bam its turn to the left. Logan Marshall-Green , Jenny O'Hara , Jacob Vargas and Matt Craven are to dance with John Dowdle's "Devil" movie shoot in Toronto, part of M. Night Shyamalan's three-film slate with Media Rights Capital. Also rounding out the ensemble c...
