BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Hugh Jackman & Rebecca Ferguson To Star In Reminiscence

If you were hoping to see a reunion between Hugh Jackman and his Greatest Showman star Rebecca Ferguson , wrapped in the trappings of a fascinating science fiction tale, then Westworld's Lisa Joy is here to make your dreams come true. She's written and will direct the pair in a new film called Reminiscence . Set in a future where the oceans have risen and much of the population of Miami has switched to a nocturnal schedule. This is also a world where people such as Jackman's Nick Bannister – who Joy describes as a "PI of the mind" – uses technology to dig into people's memories in order to help them with problems. When a mysterious woman (Ferguson) arrives in his office seeking help with lost keys, the stage is set for an epic romance, one cut short when she vanishes. Nick will have to unpack his lover's past to find her, facing danger along the way. It's a concept Joy has been thinking about for a long time, and writing for five years, even as W...

#BlackPanther Is Unstoppable

The records keep on falling. Black Panther continues to be one of the strongest performers in the MCU after just a few days, and among the most successful films of this still-young year. With audience interest still high, the movie managed a $108 million weekend in the States. That has pushed the movie to a $400 million domestic total after just 10 days, the second fastest film to reach that level after Jurassic World . It's also now the fifth highest grossing film in Marvel's sprawling cinematic universe. Adding in its healthy $304 million overseas take (with more markets yet to open), the film has crossed $704 million worldwide, seemingly making a beeline for $1 billion. New comedy Game Night opened decently in second place, though far behind the current leader, earning $16 million. Peter Rabbit was pushed to third on $12.5 million. Alex Garland's new sci-fi pic Annihilation (which had a cinematic release in the States but is headed to Netflix elsewhere) landed fo...

#Jumanji Welcome To The Jungle Is King

The four-day Martin Luther King holiday in the States saw little change in the box office charts despite some new arrivals. So it was left to Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle to stay atop the list as it rounded its fourth week on release. The movie earned $27 million, according to studio estimates. Expanding out into a much wider release (adding a whopping 2,783 screens), Steven Spielberg's The Post leapt into the top 10 at second, making $18.6 million in the process. The movie has now earned a little over $23 million in total in the US. You have to reach third place before you find one of the actual new releases, as Liam Neeson powered through another action pic with The Commuter . His latest collaboration with director Jaume Collet-Serra launched with $13.4 million. Insidious: The Last Key dropped from second to fourth on $12.1 million, and the horror has taken in $48.3 million in the US, which makes it a success given the typically thrifty Blumhouse $10 million budget. Ro...

#Jumanji Welcome To The Jungle Over Takes #StarWars The Last Jedi

Having had to take second place to Star Wars: The Last Jedi in its first couple of weeks on release, Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle took advantage of a quiet early January weekend to leapfrog into first, earning $36 million according to studio estimates. That's an impressive feat for the film, which has been scoring well with audiences and earning a solid $244.3 million in the States (and taking in a global total of $519.3 million). And given the film's success so far, that could point to sequel potential, assuming Dwayne Johnson has any time in his schedule within the next decade. Last Jedi couldn't even settle for second this weekend, also losing out to new horror sequel Insidious: The Last Key. The latest instalment of the scare franchise took in $29.2 million, a good result given its typically thrifty $10 million budget (at least before marketing is taken into account). And it also represents a boost from the third chapter's opening figure. So the most rece...

Star Wars: The Last Jedi Crosses The 1 Billion Mark

Beginning the year with a box office story that should surprise nobody, Star Wars: The Last Jedi has owned Christmas and New Year in theaters, and has blasted through the $1 billion barrier after only three weeks on release. Its total up to New Year's Eve was $1.040 billion, with half of that coming from the States, and the UK top of the other worldwide territories with $91.5m. That makes it the number one release of 2017 in the US, and the 24th biggest film of all time globally. But it's actually only the third biggest film of 2017 at the moment, with Fast & Furious 8 ($1,235.8) and Beauty And The Beast ($1,263.5) still to catch. Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle had a good weekend too, coming in second at the US box office this last weekend with $50.6m, taking it to a two-week total of $169.8m. That's a surprisingly big haul for a quasi-sequel to an elderly Robin Williams movie, but warm reviews and its likeable cast have clearly made it a light and easygoing famil...
