Ruby Rose As Batwoman First Look

Ever since Arrow debuted in 2013, American network the CW has cultivated an ever-growing inter-connected roster of small-screen superheroes that also takes in the likes of The Flash, Supergirl, John Constantine and the Legends of Tomorrow . Its latest addition is Batwoman , with Ruby Rose (of John Wick: Chapter Two and The Meg fame) suiting up for the role. And speaking of suiting up, The Hollywood Reporter has shared the first image of her as Kate Kane in the cowl and cape. Rose is set to make her first appearance as Kane in upcoming Arrow-verse crossover event ‘ Elseworlds ’, which will begin later in the current Season 7 of Arrow on 9 December, and continue through The Flash and Supergirl. Once established, Batwoman will receive her own standalone series overseen by Greg Berlanti, and scripted by Caroline Dries. Kane is Bruce Wayne’s cousin with a tragic backstory of her own – her mother and twin sister were killed when she was 12, and she was later kicked out of the milita...

Soundtrack Review: 'Supergirl Season 1'

Although Season 1 may not be great, Supergirl: Season 1 Original Television Soundtrack is up, up and away. Review by Matt Cummings When CBS announced in 2015 that they would enter the superhero television party and produce Supergirl , audiences were concerned whether a network known for attracting older procedural audiences would actually know what to do with it. More specifically, would they screw it up and totally miss the central themes behind the character? Sadly, the answer was yes, as most audiences backed away by the end of its first season. CW, smartly realizing what it could do with a slightly-damaged product, brought it onboard (a small matter since CBS owns CW) and the early result sees a vastly improved Season 2. One thing that was never in doubt was Composer Blake Neely's Season 1 score, which - like its titular hero - flies to new and different heights, establishing itself as an Übermacht incarnate. When the Kryptonian Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist) es...

First Look At Tyler Hoechlin As SUPERMAN In SUPERGIRL

The CW and DC Entertainment have unleashed this first image of actor Tyler Hoechlin as man of steel, Kara’s cousin, Superman in the upcoming season 2 of SUPERGIRL . SUPERGIRL season 2 premieres Monday, Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW. Actress Floriana Lima (“The Family”) has been cast in The CW’s Supergirl season 2 in the series regular role of Maggie Sawyer who in the DC comics is gay and when she was first introduced in 1987, she was a captain of the Metropolis Special Crimes unit and a highly skilled member of the Science Police which deals with metahumans. BUT on this show, Floriana Lima’s Maggie Sawyer is a detective for the National City Police department and she’s interested in cases involving aliens Former Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter , will play the recurring role of the President of The United States on The CW’s “Supergirl” series starring Melissa Benoist as title character. Carter’s character will first show up in the third episode of season 2. By the way, years...

Tyler Hoechlin Cast As Superman In Supergirl

There was recently a shake-up at Warner Bros./DC, one of the results of which has apparently been the discarding of the corporate rule that none of DC's big three ( Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman ) could appear on the small screen. No doubt executive producer Greg Berlanti was able to leverage his television success with a number of comics characters to work out an exception: Superman is coming to Supergirl this fall, and actor Tyler Hoechlin has been cast in the role. Enthuses executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, "Greg [Berlanti] and I have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman. We are so thrilled and humbled to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character.” Hoechlin's credits include Everybody Wants Some!, Road To Perdition, Hall Pass, Solstice, Teen Wolf and the forthcoming Stratton. Previous actors who have played Superman include Kirk Alyn, George Reeves, Bob Holiday, Christopher Reev...

Superman Will Appear In Supergirl Season 2

In its first season, Supergirl featured only fleeting glimpses of her cousin, the Man Of Steel . While the producers stated that this was to make sure that the focus stayed squarely on Melissa Benoist's Kara, beyond that Warner Bros./DC didn't want Superman to be appearing on the big screen and the small at the same time. Obviously something has changed. Casting is underway for an actor to play Superman in the first two episodes of the show's second season, with the assumption being that he will show up again occasionally (perhaps on the four-way crossover of Supergirl, Arrow, The Flash and DC's Legends Of Tomorrow?). Enthuses executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, "Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of Supergirl. We cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape!” Those who have done so previously include Kirk Alyn, George Reeves, Christopher Reeve, Gerard Christopher, ...

Supergirl Flies Over To The CW

There has been some question on whether or not Supergirl , the Melissa Benoist series, would be renewed for a second season. CBS, made no secrets of its disappointment with ratings compared to the high per episode production cost. But a reprieve has come in the form of the CW, American homebase for Arrow, The Flash and DC's Legends Of Tomorrow , which has picked the show up. As to the physical make-up of the series, it will be interesting to see what impact the shifting of networks has considering that the CW does not fund to the same extent that CBS does. Unknown is whether or not the entire cast will make the network jump along with Benoist due to potential fiscal issues. Already there's been talk of production making a cost-cutting move to Vancouver, where the other DC series are shot by their producer, Greg Berlanti. This past season Grant Gustin's The Flash crossed over to Supergirl pretty seamlessly, so from a creative point of view this would seem to open up m...

@FunkoDCLegion Review: May 2016

The first volley fired by DC looks strangely familiar. Review by Matt Cummings On our last installment, we introduced you to DC's Legion of Collectors box, an eerily similar Funko every-other-monthly that made a very good first impression. And although the stink of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is still in our noses, we're ready to move on to the (much better) television side, as Arrow and his posse arrive. The Promise Before we begin, let's look at the deal again: promising a value of $50, the sub continues the tradition of Funko partnering each time to deliver an exclusive figure and t-shirt without the fluff or filter (their words). Joining at the VIGILANTE MEMBERSHIP, members receive 6 boxes every year, with the promise of an exclusive themed collectible gift on the one-year anniversary of your annual membership pf $150 p sh/h. You can also subscribe at the SIDEKICK LEVEL at $25 with $6.95 shipping. That's literally the same deal as Marvel...
