Rio Rules The Box Office

Dimension Films' " Scream 4 " comes in No. 2 with $19.2 million; Robert Redford's limited player "The Conspirator" meets its goal in grossing roughly $4 million. Twentieth Century Fox’s Rio outperformed expectations in its domestic launch, grossing an estimated $40 million from 3,826 theaters to help break the long-running box office slump. Worldwide, the 3D toon has soared past $169 million in its first 12 days. Make sure to read my reviews on Hanna and Rio . Domestic box office revenues were up 12% from the same weekend a year ago, the first significant gain since before Christmas. With studios readying their summer slates, the boost couldn’t have come at a better time. Rio, a sizeable victory for Vanessa Morrison’s Fox Animation Studios and Blue Sky Studios, received an A CinemaScore and is the biggest domestic opening for a G-rated toon since Toy Story 3. On Saturday, Rio was up 65%, thanks to good word of mouth. The movie is poised to do great...

Social Network Still #1 At The Box Office

Social Network Still #1 At The Box Office The enormous drawing power of Katherine Heigl, Josh Duhamel and a crapping baby couldn’t best the seething cauldron of ambition and computer programming at the core of The Social Network , as David Fincher’s latest edged out a win to top the US box office charts for a second week in a row with $15.5 million across the weekend. The Duhamel/Heigl comedy Life as We Know It still managed to survive some very mixed reviews to take second place, scoring $14.6 million. That meant Disney’s true-life horse drama Secretariat had to make do with third place, though we doubt it’ll be off to the glue factory just yet, with a decent if unspectacular $12.6 million. Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole saw its wings clipped very slightly, slipping down from second to fourth, but it still added $7 million to its running total, which now stands at $39.4 million. The top five was rounded out by the week’s worst reviewed film, as Wes Craven’s My ...

Kevin Williamson Out Of Scream 4

Kevin Williamson Out Of Scream 4 All is not well in Woodsboro. As we previously reported, significant script changes have created some tension on the set of " Scream 4 ." Lauren Graham 's role was so reduced that she dropped out of the project, and now it appears that Hayden Panetierre's part has changed as well... and who's at fault may surprise you. We have learned that the slasher flick's script is now in the hands of Ehren Kruger , not the creator of the franchise, Kevin Williamson . In fact, word is that Williamson's involvement with the project has come to an end entirely -- meaning "Scream 5" is a no-go at this time. Kruger's writing resume includes "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" and "The Ring," and more significantly, "Scream 3." While the first two "Scream" movies, penned by Williamson, were adored by fans and critics alike, "Scream 3" was... well, not. Hayden Panett...

Ashley Greene And Hayden Panettiere Offered Roles In Scream 4

Ashley Greene And Hayden Panettiere Offered Roles In Scream 4 Lake Bell is in negotiations to join the franchise, and offers are out to “Twilight” actress Ashley Greene, “Heroes” star Hayden Panettiere and Rory Culkin (“Twelve”) for key starring roles. “Scream 4” reunites Wes Craven with Kevin Williamson, who kicked off a horror- movie revival with his “Scream” script in 1996. The story brings back original cast members Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Courteney Cox, though the new flick is seen as a passing of the baton to a new generation of slasher victims, with Williamson already under contract to write a fifth installment. If deals are concluded, Greene would play Campbell’s cousin Jill, essentially the heroine of the movie, and Panettiere would play her best friend, a nerdy film geek. Culkin would play a potential love interest for Jill. Bell is negotiating to play a police officer who knew Sidney (Campbell) from high school. Casting is proceeding slowly because Crave...

Scream 4 Wes Craven On Board & To Begin Filming in May

Scream 4 Wes Craven On Board & To Begin Filming in May I am a huge fan of the Scream franchise, when they came out they were a fresh of breath air to horror films and with news that Scream 4 will begin shooting in May is only good news. Craven recently finished “My Soul to Take,” which is scheduled for release sometime this year. And in May, he starts on “Scream 4.” Wes craven talked to the LA Times about film making recently: My goal is to die in my 90s on the set, say, ‘That’s a wrap,’ after the last shot, fall over dead and have the grips go out and raise a beer to me. This means that Wes in on board for the next film, which can only make it a good thing. And it looks like the original cast of Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox and David Arquette are on board and so is original Scream trilogy writer Kevin Williamson. Please Leave A Comment- Source- LATimes

Neve Cambell The Next SCREAM Queen?

Neve Cambell The Next SCREAM Queen? So you don’t think you are in any danger of becoming the next Jamie Lee Curtis of the shock-horror world? Being the next Jamie would be fine! (laughs) In fact, we start shooting Scream 4 in mid-April. I’m so happy that those of us still “alive” from 1, 2 and 3 like David (Arquette) and Courtney (Cox) have already signed up to take part. Did you all stay in touch after the trilogy had wrapped? Oh, yes. Completely. I haven’t spoken to them in a while. I’m sure it took a while to convince them to take part [in the picture], especially because they’re now a very happy family ,and of course, it was a long journey for them. I think it’s going to be a lot of fun, and a lot like going back to summer camp. What else can you tell us about Scream 4? I’m pretty sure at this stage that Wes [Craven] is back on board to direct and Kevin [Willamson] is definitely writing it...so it is going to be great. So you haven’t been sent a script yet, then? No. Not yet. They...

Scream 4 Details Revealed The series made box-office stars out of Neve Campbell, Jamie Kennedy and Skeet Ulrich as they were teamed alongside Drew Barrymore, Patrick Dempsey, Heather Graham and others in twisty, bloody plotlines. But according to Williamson, the new trilogy will only bring back three actors from the original series. "The fourth one is an ensemble," Williamson said of his "Scream 4" script, which is being concurrently written with a fifth script as well. "It'll take place right now, 10 years later, and it's going to take place in [Sidney Prescott's hometown of] Woodsboro. We'll have our three main characters, and we'll be introducing several more." The three characters that will be returning are Sidney (Neve Campbell), Gale (Courteney Cox) and Dewey (David Arquette), Williamson confirmed, adding, "We'll also be introducing a little group, a little ensemble of new castmembers. That'll take us through the next...
