ROBERT ENGLUND CONFIRMED FOR FAMOUS MONSTERS’ SILVER SCREAM FESTIVAL Horror icon Robert Englund — Freddy Krueger himself — has confirmed his appearance at Famous Monsters’ Silver Scream Festival, joining his NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET co-star Heather Langenkamp for a tribute to their late director Wes Craven (the ELM STREET series, SCREAM, THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT). With more than 150 credits, Englund played the scarred slasher Freddy Krueger in all of the original ELM STREET films and has appeared in other genre classics such as URBAN LEGEND, WISHMASTER, HATCHET, and THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, in addition to the 1980s Sci-Fi television series V. Director George A. Romero (Night of the Living Dead) knows a thing or two about zombies. So it’s no surprise that Activision Publishing enlisted the horror director to appear as himself in the new Call of the Dead zombie level that gamers can download on Xbox Live starting May 3 . Actors Robert Englund (Nightmare on Elm Street), Sarah Michelle Gellar (The Grudge), Michael Rooker (The Walking Dead) and Danny Trejo (Machete) have joined Romero in the new undead level, which is part of the Call of Duty: Black Ops Escalation expansion pack . The zombie storyline was inspired by Romero, according to Mark Lamia, studio head of Treyarch.
