Turbo Blu-ray Review By: MattInRC Turbo's fast moves and beautiful animation look and sound great in its home release, but it leaves us wanting more. DreamWorks' newest animated film Turbo is proof positive of a growing trend for the genre: the production of slick-looking yet mindless pap. Gone are the days when Disney ruled with its films filled with hope AND a well-crafted message. And while Turbo isn't terrible, there's too many characters who just aren't as funny or profound as they could have been. Grown Ups 2 Review By: MattInRC In a Summer of good films, Grown Ups 2 is neither special nor memorable. I've made my disdain fairly clear for Actor Adam Sandler , who's turned in a body of work that hardly ever elevates itself from gross humor. He hit pay dirt last year with Hotel Transylvania , but that didn't come from his studio Happy Madison Productions, nor was it written by him. I had hoped his success in the animated genre would encourage him to produce more family-friendly (and frankly funnier) fare, and to move past the growing number of disappointments and bombs that are littering a once promising career. Grown Ups 2 shows that he's neither learned from his mistakes, nor understands the more lucrative choices placed before him. I had the pleasure of talking to writers and directors Nat Faxon and Jim Rash when they made their stop in Sacramento on their press tour for their film The Way, Way Back . Some of the highlights from our conversation were how the two met and their entire movie making process. They also answered the question of why there are STAR WARS references in so many movies. The Way, Way Back Review By: MattInRC The Nat Faxon/Jim Rash independent comedy The Way, Way Back tries to evoke the days of summer, when teenage love is in the air and the familiar sounds of swimming pools and family vacations overtake the agenda. Sadly, there's not much more we get from this film, which has all the best intentions but misses badly in several important ways. The teenager Duncan ( Liam James ) and his mother Pam ( Toni Collette , 8 1/2 Women) are headed to a beach house for the summer, along with Pam's new boyfriend Trent ( Steve Carrell , Seeking a Friend for the End of the World ).
