BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Robert Rodriguez Machete Sequel

Robert Rodriguez Pinky Promises A "Machete" Sequel At the world premier of his new film Machete at the Venice Film Festival, director Robert Rodriguez has revealed that he has already got plans to make not one, but two sequels to his latest Grindhouse-inspired action flick. Just as viewers got their first glimpse of Machete, when it played as a trailer in the middle of Grindhouse, Rodriguez ends his latest action extravaganza by telling audiences to watch out for Machete Kills and Machete Kills Again . Although this seems like a joke announcement in the tradition of the exploitation films Machete honours, the Spy Kids director admits that Danny Trejo is likely to reprise the role in the not too distant future. "Machete don't joke", states Rodriguez. "It felt like it needed something when the music kicked in so I wrote those written trails into the ending just a few days before I finished editing the movie. We made the trailer to Machete not knowin

"The American" Tops The Holiday Weekend Box Office

"The American" Tops The Holiday Weekend Box Office Exit popcorn-pic season, hello movies for grown-ups: Focus Features' George Clooney starrer " The American " topped the domestic box office with an estimated $16.4 million during the summer-ending Labor Day weekend. The assassin-themed thriller rang up $19.5 million in its first six days, after unspooling midweek to get a jump on the four-day frame. Two other wide openers bore the same R rating as "American" but seemed more restricted in audience appeal. Fox's crime actioner " Machete " topped daily rankings with $3.9 million in its first day of release on Friday, but the Robert Rodriguez-shepherded splatterfest quickly ceded its lead to the more broadly appealing Clooney pic and fetched $14 million in second place through Monday. Warners' romantic comedy " Going the Distance " -- starring Drew Barrymore and Justin Long -- proved the weakest of the weekend debutantes,

New Machete Trailer Delivers

New Machete Trailer Delivers While the illegal trailer was entertaining, we got our hands on the official trailer that is attached to the upcoming Predators film.  From the looks of this trailer, Rodriguez has plumped for pure explosive entertainment, which is no bad thing given the subject matter and the cast. Can the idea of Trejo as a blade-wielding warrior maintain an entire film? Watch the trailer after the Jump.. Synopsis: The highly skilled Federale Machete is hired by some unsavory types to assassinate a senator. But just as he's about to take the shot, he notices someone aiming at him and realizes he's been set up. He barely survives the sniper's bullet, and is soon out for revenge on his former employers, with the reluctant assistance of his old friend Cheech Marin, who has become a priest and taken a vow of nonviolence. If you hire him to take out the bad guys, make sure the bad guys aren't you! Please Leave A Comment-

Illegal Trailer For Machete

Illegal Trailer For Machete Director Robert Rodriguez dropped a fun little Machete trailer off at AICN to share with the world on Cinco De Mayo. Rodriguez is calling it an "illegal" trailer. Fox allowed Rodriguez to put together a Cinco De Mayo message to Arizona. If you are up to date on the current events of what is going on there then you will know why this is so cool. The film is an expansion of a fake trailer Rodriguez directed for the 2007 film Grindhouse and a spin-off of the Spy Kids films (since the lead character is the uncle of the protagonists). Synopsis: The highly skilled Federale Machete is hired by some unsavory types to assassinate a senator. But just as he's about to take the shot, he notices someone aiming at him and realizes he's been set up. He barely survives the sniper's bullet, and is soon out for revenge on his former employers, with the reluctant assistance of his old friend Cheech Marin, who has become a priest and taken a vow

Machete Has Found A Home At Fox

Machete Has Found A Home At Fox The auction ended late Friday night and I've been putting together what happened ever since. Certainly you'll recall the big cool quotient around Machete, that famously fake trailer by Robert Rodriguez from Grindhouse. It was considered the single best thing about that Weinstein Co double-feature flop that also included Quentin Tarantino's pic. Rodriguez' fake trailer hinted at a good story (Mexican day laborer is set up, double-crossed, and left for dead -- then starts everyone's worst nightmare) and carried an even better catchphrase ("They just fucked with the wrong Mexican.") Machete's YouTube video alone has 1.4 million views, which wasn't lost on Hollywood. The result was 6 studios all very interested in domestic distribution rights to Rodriguez' latest -- Sony, Lionsgate, Warner Bros, Fox, Paramount, and The Weinstein Co. Rodriguez had made the fake trailer into a real movie outside the studio system. Wit

Robert Rodriguez's Machete Is Kicking Ass and Taking Names

Robert Rodriguez's Machete Is Kicking Ass and Taking Names Robert Rodriguez may be the hardest-working man in show business—but not in Hollywood: After establishing Troublemaker Studios in Austin, Texas, more than a decade ago, he quickly amassed an impressive resume as a writer, producer, director, composer and editor. Even with so many different challenges pulling at him these days, however, Rodriguez said that he is currently focusing his attention on making just one movie, even if he's promoting another at the same time: Machete. "Probably Machete, because I just shot week one of that," Rodriguez told reporters over the weekend in Los Angeles while promoting his upcoming family movie Shorts. "Next week, we shoot some more." Shorts, needless to say, is dramatically different from Machete, which expands on the fake trailer of the same name he created for 2007's Grindhouse, about a vengeance-seeking former Mexican Federale and day laborer.
