CW Developing Friday the 13th Series

Jason's Creek or Kill-more Girls? By Brandon Wolfe The CW will take a break from its usual teen dramas and repeat-pillaging of DC Comics to head down to Crystal Lake. The network is source developing a series based on the Friday the 13th film franchise as a horror/crime thriller. Steve Mitchell and Craig Van Sickle, creators of the NBC series The Pretender , are developing the series, which intends to reimagine slasher Jason Voorhees in a more grounded framework. The story will center on a detective's search for his missing brother, which brings him into contact with a serial killer long thought to be dead, but whose killing spree has resumed. The series will also update Crystal Lake from a remote wooded area into a bustling town with a dark history. A source says: "It's like the town from Jaws. It's like Amityville 20 years later, and someone says, 'I think the shark is back.' Everyone is like, 'Oh, s--t. We can't have the shark back, we fi...

New Friday the 13th To Explore Jason's Immortality

Why won't he DIE? By Brandon Wolfe Another Friday the 13th just came and went, yet there’s been no sign of the date’s symbolic representative, Jason Voorhees, onscreen in six years, leading audiences to wonder whether if the hockey-masked galoot will ever again emerge from the depths of Development Hell. But in an interview with Esquire , Platinum Dunes producer Brad Fuller reveals that not only are there currently plans to get Jason back into theaters, but there might be an actual creative angle in the works for this notoriously autopiloted franchise. "There's always been this supernatural aspect to these movies,” Fuller says. “It defies logic that, you see Jason get killed in every movie, including ours, the 2009 one. And then he comes back and no one's ever really investigated what that is. So that's something that I think about a little bit. Like it is supernatural, but what is he? Those are the things that we're toying with. Nothing has been deci...

Paramount sets dates for The Ring, Paranormal Activity and Friday the 13th Sequels

Three spooky sequels find new release dates. By Brandon Wolfe Paramount has shuffled its horror-movie deck as it has set new dates for three upcoming sequels, according to Variety . First up is the second sequel to 2002’s The Ring , carrying the Cameron-esque title Rings , which will bow on November 13, more than a decade after the release of the previous installment, 2005’s abysmal The Ring Two . The other two films, both of which are being pushed back significantly, are Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension , which is moving from March 13 to October 23 (the date recently vacated by the Conjuring sequel), and the latest reboot attempt for Friday the 13th , bumped from November 13 to May 13 (which still affords it a release date on a Friday the 13th). This move isn’t surprising for the sixth Paranormal Activity , which seemed unlikely to make that rapidly approaching March date due to the complete lack of any form of promotion thus far. October is the franchise’s home b...

Nightmare On Elm Street Re Shoots and Friday The 13th News

Nightmare On Elm Street Re Shoots and Friday The 13th News Here's what Brad Fuller had to say: While many of you are enjoying a Christmas break I am working everyday on Elm Street. I have read all the rumors and want to make sure that you have the facts. We are doing a couple of days of reshooting Elm Street. People seem to be making a big deal about that fact. Elm Street is our 8th film and we've had reshoots for every film. As I have stated here many times, I try to read everything and I pay attention. The fans input has always been so valuable to me, and Elm Street is no exception. I don't want to get specific about what we are shooting, but suffice to say we heard you. After you've seen the film we can discuss what was reshot. I will say this though- nothing beats seeing Jackie back as Freddy- he works so hard to perfect his portrayal and leaves nothing to chance. Let's talk Friday 13th. We have busted our ass to get that movie going! The script is great- dare...

Conan Reboot Character Line Up It wasn't till a few years ago that I actually sat threw and watched the Original Conan movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. And to tell you the truth I enjoyed the film a lot. I want to thank Rando From thearnoldfans for making me watch this film. Now with the news of the reboot happening, I can say that I am excited for this film. But I do wish that Arnold would make some sort of Cameo in the flick. Sure who doesn't want to see Arnold. Time will only tell but we can hope right. The Marcus Nispel - (director if films like Pathfinder , Friday The 13th Remake and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre ) directed flick begins filming Feb 15 in Bulgaria. [ CONAN ] He's in his 20s to early 30s, Caucasian, powerfully built, broad-shouldered, sun browned skin lined with scars. Piercing blue eyes and square-cut black mane, tall.
