#TheJungleBook PAST $700M WORLDWIDE

With $255.8M domestically and $452.8M internationally, Disney’s The Jungle Book roared past the $700M mark at the global box office on Monday, May 2, for a global total of $708.6M. The Jungle Book is currently the #4 film of the year domestically, internationally, and globally and joins Zootopia to become Disney’s second 2016 release to cross the $700M threshold.

Having surpassed the $600M mark on April 29, The Jungle Book added more than $100M to its global total last weekend thanks to outstanding holds in the U.S. and internationally. Domestically, it has remained the #1 film every day of its run and, in its third consecutive #1 weekend (April 29-May 1), posted the sixth-best third weekend of all time with $43.7M. It debuted April 15 with $103.3M, holding in its second weekend with $61.5M.

In China, the film has brought in $138.8M to become Disney’s third biggest release in the country, while in India, it is already the highest-grossing Hollywood release of all time with $34.4M. Other top markets include the U.K. ($48M), Mexico ($19.9M) and France ($19.4M). The film opens in Korea on June 9 and in Japan on August 11.

Directed by Jon Favreau and featuring newcomer Neel Sethi as Mowgli surrounded by an all-star voice cast including Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Idris Elba, Lupita Nyong’o, Scarlett Johansson, and Christopher Walken, The Jungle Book enjoys a stellar 94% Certified Fresh rating on RottenTomatoes and an A CinemaScore.

Naked Gun Reboot On It's Way

If you've seen Naked Gun - or The Naked Gun: From The Files Of Police Squad ! to give its full title - you'll know that it's a comedic masterpiece that springboards off astonishing levels of silliness and random spoofery. Leslie Nielsen's Frank Drebin is a loveable buffoon for the ages, even when he's discussing his dicky prostrate. Do not, however, expect the Ed Helms -starring reboot to adopt exactly the same tack. According to Naked Gun director/co-writer David Zucker, talking up Airplane!'s screening at Nashville's Wild West Comedy Festival, the new version will not attempt to hit the same spoofy sweet spot as the Zuckers and Jim Abrahams' 1988 comedy.
