Deadline is reporting Mark Wahlberg will star in Partners, an Evan Turner-scripted action comedy that puts a new spin on the buddy cop picture concept that Wahlberg and so many other other actors have exploited.
Instead of the prototypical bromance, this one will pair him with–eek–a female partner. The plan is for Wahlberg to play an LAPD detective who falls for a beautiful woman after a one-night stand. Then he learns she is an FBI agent and his new boss on a high profile case. The template is Mr and Mrs. Smith, with big action set pieces.
Leverage Entertainment’s Stephen Levinson will produce. New Line is right now trying to find the right actress to match with Wahlberg, and a director. Richard Brener, Samuel J. Brown, and Michael Disco are overseeing for New Line.
