Scene stealer to take another run at audiences.
By Brandon Wolfe
For last summer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, the biggest gripe in advance of the film’s release concerned Evan Peters’ Quicksilver. The character’s silver hair, shiny jacket and welder goggles looked goofy in stills, and that dumb Carl’s Jr. commercial didn’t help, either. Plus, the fact that Joss Whedon was also putting the character into Avengers: Age of Ultron with a less risible appearance seemed to instantly render Peters’ interpretation as the lesser Quicksilver straight out of the gate.
Now fast-forward a year and the X-Men version of Quicksilver stole the show and had one of the best scenes in any movie last year with his slo-mo “Time in a Bottle” set piece, while the Avengers version died on the table and is already mostly forgotten. So it was a no-brainer for the character to return for next summer’s X-Men: Apocalypse, and director Bryan Singer confirmed in a set photo on Instagram today that the zippy mutant will indeed be back for a second run.
