BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

One Big Happy S01E04 Recap: Flight Risk

The modern tale of two wives and one idiot.

Story by @ErikaAshley

Lizzie triumphantly announces her morning sickness stage of pregnancy seems to be over but is tested when Prudence offers her toast with gooseberry jam. Luke tells her to hold herself together because if she gags he gags and Lizzie does her best to keep a straight face. Prudence apologizes for mentioning the jam looking like phlegm and kicks starts the duo’s gag reflex. They stand around trying to contain their disgust but Prudence doesn’t help when she shows them the blood sausage that accompanies her breakfast. Later Lizzie plans her monthly trip to the farmer’s market and Prudence runs in exclaiming her excitement for the hump back whales that are mating in the bay. She suggests the group goes to watch the festivities but Lizzie passes on the trip. Prudence admits she’s been feeling bored and wants to have an adventure. The group heads out to the farmer’s market per Lizzie’s instructions and Prudence seems obviously uninterested by the monotony.

Back at the bowling alley Luke seeks advice from Marcus but instead gets informed that he has two wives and which causing his problem. Marcus suggests that instead of Luke following Lizzie’s command he should really be listening to Prudence since she is his real wife. Over at their house Lizzie complains about the most recent farmer’s market fiasco with her sister Leisha who reassures her Luke is not going to change into an entirely new person overnight because of Prudence. Just then Luke busts into the room completely decked out in base jumping attire and helmet informing the group that he’s taken Prudence up on her offer to jump off of a cliff. Lizzie begins to panic but he tries to calm her by reassuring her that there will be training he has to complete prior to jumping off the cliff. Leisha and Roy leave to attend to their child and Lizzie goes full freak out. Luke finally admits to being afraid to lose Prudence because their married life is boring compared to her action-packed bachelorette lifestyle before him. Lizzie begs he not do anything dangerous since he’s going to be a father but Luke storms out in order to try to keep his wife entertained.

Later Lizzie awaits by Luke’s unconscious body in the ER when Prudence hobbles in wearing her base jumping outfit. Prudence asks if he’ll be ok and the nurse informs her of his injuries but assures her he’ll be fine when he comes to. The nurse asks for his information and Lizzie provides her with his insurance information. When the nurse asks if Lizzie is his wife Prudence corrects her and Lizzie agrees that she’s only his lesbian best friend carrying his child which only confuses the nurse more. When the nurse asks for more information only Lizzie can answer. The women fight over the bed remote to make him more comfortable while adjusting the bed up and down while Luke lays unconscious as the bed convulses. Prudence demands that Lizzie lighten up and give her control over her husband but Lizzie retorts that he’s in the hospital because he was just trying show off to her.

When Luke makes it back home he pulls a prank on Prudence pretending that he has amnesia and she looks seriously concerned that he doesn’t know she’s his wife. When he confesses to joking with her Lizzie breaks into a fit of laughter and confesses it’s much funnier than when he did it to her about the pregnancy. Prudence tries to laugh it off and instead offers that the next adventure they try be to sit nice quietly in a park downtown. Luke asks her why the change of heart and Prudence offers that she won’t be bored with him because maybe she needs to settle down instead. Luke gets upset and asks her where she got that idea but he quickly realize that it must have been Lizzie. Prudence storms off because she doesn't understand why he couldn’t tell her himself and Luke yells at Lizzie for intruding yet again. Later Luke and Lizzie look for Prudence and find her the new play castle in their backyard. Prudence and Luke make up while Lizzie stands to the side awkwardly. But when Luke apologizes for keeping a secret from Prudence about his fear of losing her because of his boring life she admires his and Lizzie’s bravery for starting an unconventional family. The group then takes a spontaneous trip to sit on the Hollywood sign that night on Lizzie’s whim. Again they agree to be a better family unite and attempt to take a selfie atop the landmark just as they hear police sirens in the distance.

The jealousy is laid on thick and will probably continue to be the root of their problems. Each episode seems to be the story over and over but does mimic the classic Three's Company equation. Person A is upset by Person B and as a result Person C has to fix the situation. Lizzie will never truly get along with Prudence and Luke will always be in the middle pulled between the two women. Hopefully as the season progresses we might see a more evolved story line or new twist to their plot as the current situation is getting old fast. Here’s to next week!

Naked Gun Reboot On It's Way

If you've seen Naked Gun - or The Naked Gun: From The Files Of Police Squad ! to give its full title - you'll know that it's a comedic masterpiece that springboards off astonishing levels of silliness and random spoofery. Leslie Nielsen's Frank Drebin is a loveable buffoon for the ages, even when he's discussing his dicky prostrate. Do not, however, expect the Ed Helms -starring reboot to adopt exactly the same tack. According to Naked Gun director/co-writer David Zucker, talking up Airplane!'s screening at Nashville's Wild West Comedy Festival, the new version will not attempt to hit the same spoofy sweet spot as the Zuckers and Jim Abrahams' 1988 comedy. "It won’t be like the Naked Gun that I did," Zucker revealed. "It may be good, but it won’t be that kind of movie. They’re going to use the title. They asked me if I wanted to produce. They’re nice people, but they don’t want to do that style of spoof that I do." One departure...
