THE FIFTH BEATLE GRAPHIC NOVEL WINS TWO HARVEY AWARDS

VIVEK J. TIWARY’S THE FIFTH BEATLE GRAPHIC NOVEL WINS TWO HARVEY AWARDS INCLUDING “BEST ORIGINAL GRAPHIC ALBUM”

Based on Popular Demand Dark Horse Comics to Begin Third Printing of the Book

The Fifth Beatle: The Brian Epstein Story, the acclaimed New York Times #1 Best-Selling graphic novel by writer/producer Vivek J. Tiwary and artists Andrew C. Robinson and Kyle Baker, published by Dark Horse Comics, won two honors at this year’s 2014 Harvey Awards: Best Original Graphic Album and Best Biographical, Historical or Journalistic Presentation.

The Harvey Awards, presented at a special banquet at Baltimore Comic-Con, are one of the comic book industry’s oldest and most respected awards; and the only industry awards both nominated by and selected by the full body of comic book professionals. This award highlights the success of The Fifth Beatle, which also recently won the Eisner Award for Best Reality-Based work. Based on the positive reviews and consumer demand, Dark Horse Comics is planning a third printing of The Fifth Beatle, a book that was first released in November 2013.

Vivek Tiwary noted "I've dreamed of writing comics since I was a child, always looking up to comics creators for inspiration and aspiration. So it's a lifelong dream come true-- a happy and humbling honor-- to win two prestigious Harvey Awards chosen by the creative community. And it's fuel to keep writing-- you'll be hearing more from me soon!"

The Fifth Beatle film adaptation, written and produced by Tiwary, is the first ever feature film about The Beatles to secure music rights to their songs, having been granted unprecedented access to the Lennon/McCartney music catalog. It is about Brian Epstein, The Beatles’ manager and essentially the man behind their great success. Paul McCartney said, “If anyone was the fifth Beatle, it was Brian.” It is scheduled to begin shooting in 2015 and more info can be found at www.FifthBeatle.com.

Naked Gun Reboot On It's Way

If you've seen Naked Gun - or The Naked Gun: From The Files Of Police Squad ! to give its full title - you'll know that it's a comedic masterpiece that springboards off astonishing levels of silliness and random spoofery. Leslie Nielsen's Frank Drebin is a loveable buffoon for the ages, even when he's discussing his dicky prostrate. Do not, however, expect the Ed Helms -starring reboot to adopt exactly the same tack. According to Naked Gun director/co-writer David Zucker, talking up Airplane!'s screening at Nashville's Wild West Comedy Festival, the new version will not attempt to hit the same spoofy sweet spot as the Zuckers and Jim Abrahams' 1988 comedy. "It won’t be like the Naked Gun that I did," Zucker revealed. "It may be good, but it won’t be that kind of movie. They’re going to use the title. They asked me if I wanted to produce. They’re nice people, but they don’t want to do that style of spoof that I do." One departure...
