We've had at least one trailer already for Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s latest directorial effort, The Interview. Here comes the latest, a Red Band effort full of filthy humor and James Franco mugging.
Franco is Dave Skylark, the none-too-bright but very popular host of celebrity tabloid TV show Skylark Tonight. When he and producer / best pal Aaron Rapoport learn that North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un is a huge fan of their work, they manage to land an interview with the tyrant, seeing it as their chance to establish themselves as legitimate journalists.
But with their travel to Pyongyang booked, the CIA decides that Dave and Aaron are the best shot they have at assassinating Kim, and set about finding a way for the two least qualified men imaginable to off a world leader.
This trailer shows more of what we can expect from the film, including Skylark figuring out what the CIA agents mean by asking him to “take out” the Korean despot and Aaron trying to conceal a vital item in an uncomfortable place. No, not the back of a Volkswagen.
With Lizzy Caplan, Randall Park, Timothy Simons and Diana Bang in the cast, The Interview will hit UK screens on February 6 next year. That follows a delay for some digital polishing to remove certain elements for clearance issues. Because we’re sure North Korea will be fine with a film where Kim Jong-un is targeted for assassination….
