BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

The Alamo Drafthouse Recommends BOYHOOD

RICHARD LINKLATER'S CINEMATIC HISTORY-MAKING ACHEIVEMENT FILMED OVER A DECADE IS MORE THAN WORTH THE WAIT

The Alamo Drafthouse is thrilled to announce Richard Linklater's BOYHOOD as the next Drafthouse Recommends title. Shot in short periods every year for an unprecedented 12 years, BOYHOOD's long-term storytelling captures a fictional coming-of-age story that is grounded realism.

Drafthouse Recommends spotlights first-run movies with the Alamo stamp of approval to indicate that we love these titles and we think everyone should make an effort to see them. Our goal is to highlight groundbreaking, innovative and intelligent films we believe deserve to be seen by as many people as possible.

"You may never see anything like BOYHOOD in your lifetime," says Drafthouse founder Tim League. "This film is truly special, a monumental achievement in cinema. If you consider yourself a movie fan, BOYHOOD is mandatory viewing."

"One of the main reasons I came to Austin to open the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema was the robust film community. The driving force behind that has always been Richard Linklater. Not only does he continue to challenge and push the boundaries of cinema with his own films, he is a tireless champion of great cinema past, present and future," says League.

Filmed over the span of 12 years, Richard Linklater's BOYHOOD allows viewers an intimate glimpse into the life of a young boy entering adolescence. Starring Patricia Arquette, Ellar Coltrane, and Ethan Hawke, the film follows Mason Jr. (Coltrane) from age 6 to 18 and examines his relationship with his parents (Arquette, Hawke) as he grows.

BOYHOOD opens in Austin on July 18 and expands to select Alamo Drafthouse markets throughout the following weeks.

To celebrate the release of the film, Richard Linklater has recorded his very own "Don't Talk" PSA for the Alamo Drafthouse, and Alamo Drafthouse Founder and CEO Tim League recorded a special recommendation video that will play at Alamo theaters leading up to the film's release. In addition, Alamo Drafthouse Austin Market Concept Chef Trish Eichelberger and Beverage Director Bill Norris have created a BOYHOOD themed food and beverage menu that will be available at screenings of the film. Included below is the link to watch the "Don't Talk" PSA, Tim League's recommendation of the film, and to download the BOYHOOD themed food and beverage menu.

Naked Gun Reboot On It's Way

If you've seen Naked Gun - or The Naked Gun: From The Files Of Police Squad ! to give its full title - you'll know that it's a comedic masterpiece that springboards off astonishing levels of silliness and random spoofery. Leslie Nielsen's Frank Drebin is a loveable buffoon for the ages, even when he's discussing his dicky prostrate. Do not, however, expect the Ed Helms -starring reboot to adopt exactly the same tack. According to Naked Gun director/co-writer David Zucker, talking up Airplane!'s screening at Nashville's Wild West Comedy Festival, the new version will not attempt to hit the same spoofy sweet spot as the Zuckers and Jim Abrahams' 1988 comedy. "It won’t be like the Naked Gun that I did," Zucker revealed. "It may be good, but it won’t be that kind of movie. They’re going to use the title. They asked me if I wanted to produce. They’re nice people, but they don’t want to do that style of spoof that I do." One departure...
