British actor Christopher Eccleston, who played Doctor Who during the 2005 season of the BBC sci-fi show, is in final negotiations to play the villain in Thor 2, Marvel Studios’ sequel to its 2011 hit.
Alan Taylor is directing the picture, which is officially titled Thor: The Dark World, and brings back most of the first movie’s cast, including Chris Hemsworth, who plays Thor.
Could Zachary Levi Join Thor 2?-
Plot details are being kept in the farthest reaches of Valhalla, but Ellleston will play the ruler of the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim.
Eccleston has a penchant for playing bad guys, as he did in 28 Days Later, NBC’s Heroes, and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, where he played Destro.
