Muppets 2 Is Confirmed. Lasseter Talks Pixar's Next Film

Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy have been making the media rounds a lot lately, and their stop in Las Vegas yesterday brought some pretty exciting news. It was at Disney's CinemaCon panel that president of production Sean Bailey announced that there will officially be a "Muppets 2."

This is something we've heard plenty about already, like the fact Jason Segel won't be involved and the movie will introduce plenty of new characters. But it's nice to have the movie finally confirmed by Disney so that we know we can look forward to it coming out... well, eventually. Bailey didn't have any more details to share about the movie other than the fact it is actually happening.

However, Disney and Pixar animation chief John Lasseter did have some news about Pixar's upcoming line-up.

It turns out the animation studio is trying to bring together a film based around the Mexican holiday Dia de los Muertos. The movie has no release date yet, but it will be directed by "Toy Story 3's" Lee Unkrich. Lasseter also announced that Pixar will be calling its May 30, 2014 dinosaur flick "The Good Dinosaur," while a 2015-launching untitled movie will take viewers "inside the mind."

The lucky attendees of the Disney panel were also privy to the first 30 minutes of "Brave," while we had to make due with a new trailer and clip. But the last bit of news out of the Pixar portion of the event charmed us the most: "Finding Nemo" is going to get a 3D rerelease at some point in the future. Please let that mean that we'll get a new short featuring Dory.

Naked Gun Reboot On It's Way

If you've seen Naked Gun - or The Naked Gun: From The Files Of Police Squad ! to give its full title - you'll know that it's a comedic masterpiece that springboards off astonishing levels of silliness and random spoofery. Leslie Nielsen's Frank Drebin is a loveable buffoon for the ages, even when he's discussing his dicky prostrate. Do not, however, expect the Ed Helms -starring reboot to adopt exactly the same tack. According to Naked Gun director/co-writer David Zucker, talking up Airplane!'s screening at Nashville's Wild West Comedy Festival, the new version will not attempt to hit the same spoofy sweet spot as the Zuckers and Jim Abrahams' 1988 comedy. "It won’t be like the Naked Gun that I did," Zucker revealed. "It may be good, but it won’t be that kind of movie. They’re going to use the title. They asked me if I wanted to produce. They’re nice people, but they don’t want to do that style of spoof that I do." One departure...
