BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Exclusive Interview With Damon Herriman About Upcoming Role In J.Edgar

SandwichJohnFilms had the pleasure to get an Exclusive Interview with Damon Herriman this weekend. A name you may not be to familiar with just yet,but trust me this is his year in the US.

Damon Herriman was born in Adelaide, South Australia. He began acting in  television  at the age of eight, but it was not until he was cast as Frank Errol in The Sullivans two years later that his career began to take off.

Herriman was cast as Mark Jorgensen, the bespectacled best friend of Ben Mendelsohn's Danny Clark in the Australian cult comedy classic, The Big Steal.

Recently Herriman has made his way over the ocean and has made an inmpact here in the US. Playing a roadkill truck driver in the film House of Wax.  He has also starred in the Televison show The Unit, Cold Case and Red Belt.

He currently plays the recurring role of Dewey Crowe in the FX series, Justified.

His biggest role to date will be starring in the upcoming Clint Eastwood film J. Edgar, in which he will be playing Bruno Hauptmann the man convicted kidnapper of the Lindbergh baby.

1. Looks like 2011 is going to be a break out year for you here in the US.... with the news that you have been cast in the upcoming Clint Eastwood film J.Edgar. I had the chance to talk to Mr. Eastwood and got the scoop on Judi Dench having a role in the film. What was the process like auditioning for this role?

It was much like auditioning for anything else really. Although the casting director, Fiona Weir created an amazing environment for auditioning. She took so much time and made me feel completely at ease. Very rare to find that. I didn't meet Clint Eastwood, but I believe he usually casts off tape.

2. Did you know much about the role when it was offered to you?

I knew that it was Bruno Hauptmann, the man convicted of kidnapping the Lindbergh baby. I knew it was a German accent. Amazingly, there are some clips of him from the court case in the 30s on the net. So I'd watched those a lot for the audition. Since getting the role I've read up a lot more.

3. Let's start with how you got into acting and what was your big break moment?

I started when I was very young - around eight. 'Big break' is a hard one because it's such a relative thing. At first it seemed like getting a role in the Australian series THE SULLIVANS when I was 10 was a big break. Then it seemed like doing the Australian film, THE BIG STEAL when I was 19 was a big break. Then doing my first US job, HOUSE OF WAX. And now this seems to trump all of that! So, I'm not sure which one is the real big break. This latest one certainly feels the most worthy of that term, I guess.

4. How is it working with Timothy Olyphant "Justified" Can you tell us a moment from the show that you will always remember?

I love working with him. He's such a generous actor. He cares so much about the show and the writing. And just a really lovely man. The moment that comes to mind is one from the third episode in the season that's about to air. My character, Dewey is lying on a bed wearing nothing but underwear, cowboy boots and a cowboy hat, watching two girls make out. That was a memorable moment for sure.

5. What do you do in your spare time?

I tend to lie around on a bed wearing nothing but underwear, cowboy boots and a cowboy hat, watching two girls make out. No, I tend to hang out with friends. See movies. And I like to write screenplays too. Made some shorts over the years so hopefully one of the long ones will get made one of these days.

Naked Gun Reboot On It's Way

If you've seen Naked Gun - or The Naked Gun: From The Files Of Police Squad ! to give its full title - you'll know that it's a comedic masterpiece that springboards off astonishing levels of silliness and random spoofery. Leslie Nielsen's Frank Drebin is a loveable buffoon for the ages, even when he's discussing his dicky prostrate. Do not, however, expect the Ed Helms -starring reboot to adopt exactly the same tack. According to Naked Gun director/co-writer David Zucker, talking up Airplane!'s screening at Nashville's Wild West Comedy Festival, the new version will not attempt to hit the same spoofy sweet spot as the Zuckers and Jim Abrahams' 1988 comedy. "It won’t be like the Naked Gun that I did," Zucker revealed. "It may be good, but it won’t be that kind of movie. They’re going to use the title. They asked me if I wanted to produce. They’re nice people, but they don’t want to do that style of spoof that I do." One departure...
