That's usually reserved for moms and shows like Disney on Ice. But with this weekend's showing of Marvel Universe Live! in Sacramento, dads can add a new activity that won't bore them to tears and might actually entertain along the way. When Thor destroys the Cosmic Cube, sending the fractals to distant parts of the the planet, Loki returns to re-assemble it in his quest for worldwide domination. By Brandon Wolfe “ Starrrr Warrrrrs, nothing but Starrrr Warrrrrs ,” Bill Murray famously once crooned a long time ago (in a galaxy… well, in this galaxy, so not far, far away at all), and it looks like he was onto something, as dates have now been set for the next Star Wars chapter and the first Star Wars spin-off film. Episode VIII , written and directed by Rian Johnson ( Looper ) will bow on May 26, 2017, which, serendipitously, will be exactly 40 years and one day after the release date of the original Star Wars in 1977. In the meantime, the stand-alone Star Wars: Rogue One , starring Felicity Jones , will begin shooting this summer for release on December 16, 2016. The storyline for Rogue One is being kept under wraps, but was developed by Industrial Light & Magic’s John Knoll and written by Chris Weitz. Gareth Edwards ( Godzilla ) will direct. Frozen 2 is officially in development at Walt Disney Animation Studios with directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee and producer Peter Del Vecho, the Oscar®-winning filmmaking team behind Frozen. The news was announced at Disney’s Annual Meeting of Shareholders this morning by Bob Iger, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company; John Lasseter, Chief Creative Officer of Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios; and actor Josh Gad, who provides the voice of Olaf from Frozen. “We enjoyed making Frozen Fever so much and being back in that world with those characters,” said John Lasseter. “Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck have come up with a great idea for a sequel and you will be hearing a lot more about it and we’re taking you back to Arendelle.
