(cough) CONTAGION and The Walking Dead put some attention back on Centers For Disease Control , just like Dan Brown’s book Deception Point and the recent movie Apollo 18 made NASA seem like it still matters somehow (cough), oh excuse me, I may have caught a bug or something (cough!). CONTAGION is an ambitious paranoia movie that’s too big for its own good. Sure it has great Oscar worthy A-list talents but Soderbergh puts more focus on the symptoms and the lethal effect that the virus has on the characters than the characters themselves. It’s always a gamble when you’re dealing with such huge cast, you run the risk of paying little to no attention to some of them. GIT also announced its first  project that will be taken to MIPCOM next month: Hannibal , a one-hour drama series written by Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller, Hannibal will explore the early relationship of Thomas Harris’ signature character, renowned psychiatrist Dr. Hannibal Lector , and his patient, a young FBI criminal profiler named Will Graham , who is haunted by his ability to empathize with serial killers. Yes, it's somewhat confusing for the 2011 prequel to 1982's The Thing to also be called The Thing , but it's definitely the new one that we're dealing with now, as we present a new clip from the new story of alien goings-on in the Antarctic and the dangers of thoughtlessly thawing out shapeshifting beasties. This story picks up a thread briefly touched on in the John Carpenter Thing, wherein we learn that the alien had been discovered under the Antarctic ice, deep frozen, and brought inside by the staff of a Norwegian Antarctic base. Given the havoc it wreaked in Carpenter's film, it's no spoiler to say that not all of them would, with hindsight, describe the decision to bring the thing indoors as a good one.
