Whitney Houston Will Return In Remake Of "Sparkle"

Whitney Houston , making her first return to movies since 1996’s The Preacher’s Wife , is in negotiations to star in Sparkle , Sony Pictures remake of the 1976 music-themed drama. American Idol winner Jordin Sparks and actor Mike Epps also are set to star. Their sudden rise unravels their personal lives. Sparks will play the title character, the talented member of the group while Houston will play her not-so encouraging mother. Russell Crowe Joins Les Miserables

Anyone who's heard 30 Odd Foot Of Grunt - and there are a few of you out there - will know that Russell Crowe is a man who takes his music seriously. He's le bad guy, the heartless gendarme who relentlessly pursues Hugh Jackman 's poverty-stricken Jean Valjean when the latter is paroled from prison after serving 20 years for stealing bread to feed his starving family. Javert is convinced that you're once a thief, always a thief, and so when Valjean disappears and tries to rebuild his life, Javert is determined to track him down. After Robin Hood, it looks like a classic case of 'poacher turned bastard'. Crowe joins a cast that already boosts Jackman and may soon have An

Will Butler & Headey Return For 300: Battle of Artemisia?

300: Battle of Artemisia may have a new director, but it looks as though Noam Murro might get the chance to bring back some elements of Zack Snyder's film. At a recent event Movies.com  had a chance to chat up 300: Battle of Artemisia with producer Bernie Goldmann, who told us that the new film saves a little room for some old familiar faces. “It’s a different story," he said. "[However] there’s a small part for Lena [Headey]. There’s a small part for Gerry [Butler].” While there is a small place for King Leonidas and Queen Gorgo in the new film, clearly this still means Goldmann and co. will be on the hunt for new leads. Based on Goldmann’s perception on casting, there’s a chance we could end up with some relatively unknown actors. “When you make a period movie like that, it’s great not to know the actors,” Goldmann explained. “For me, as an audience, it always brings me into the movie more. You can’t see Tom Cruise in a historical movie. You go, ‘That’s Tom Cruis
