BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

And The Best Film Score of 2016 Goes To...

It wasn't easy, but we've managed to provide you our top 5 film scores of 2016. Review by Matt Cummings It's not easy to find websites which love soundtrack scores as much as the films themselves, but we at SJF think the entire film must be considered when judging its value. Central to any movie's success is its use of music, and 2016 gifted us with potentially the best year we've ever heard. From television to movies and even video games, we witnessed an onslaught that began in January and didn't let up until 12/31. But as with all things, the bill must come due which means taking a moment to remember the top scores of the year. It wasn't easy, but we've managed to fashion together a list that covers all forms of entertainment, something we frankly couldn't have done in previous years. Our immense thanks goes out to The Krakower Group for securing us with these scores. Without delay, here are our top film scores of 2016: X-Men Apoca

Soundtrack Review: #XMenApocalypse

X-men: Apocalypse - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is superhero bombast at its best. Review by Matt Cummings Say what you want about the newest X-men film (our boy Rama loved it ), but in my mind it lacked a sense of danger from the menacing Apocalypse (played by Oscar Issac). Sure, there's a few very good scenes (including an excellent pair of cameos), and Director Bryan Singer has a good (but not strong) understanding of all the new mutants that he introduces. However, one would be shortsighted to attach the same negativity to Composer John Ottman's score, a bombastic and headstrong affair that will encourage you to follow this X-men baddie to the ends of the earth. Set in the 1980's, Professor Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) is slowly building his School For Gifted Youngsters, employing Beast (Nicholas Hoult) and Havok (Lucas Till) as teachers for a new and growing class of mutants. But deep under the wreckage of an ancient Egyptian pyramid, an inesca

All Superhero Movies to 2020 (UPDATED...AGAIN)

Guess what happens when we say, "We have the final, final, final version of the list." Story by Matt Cummings Marvel shocked the world (again) this week with the announcement that Ant-Man was getting a sequel, and that the studio had added three more films to its release schedule. We knew our original story back in April couldn't hold, but that's our dumb luck assuming we know the inner mind of the Marvel machine. The The Kree Supreme Intelligence has got nothing on Marvel Studios! Anyways, we've had some time to digest everything and thought it was time to re-re-re-update the master list of DC/Marvel films through 2020. The changes ain't pretty, and there's some interesting suggestions embedded within. Read our thoughts after checking out the list: 2016 February 12: Deadpool (Fox) March 25: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice May 6: Captain America: Civil War May 27: X-Men: Apocalypse (Fox) August 5: Suicide Squad October 7: G

First Look At #XMenApocalypse

Though we’ve seen concept art and one or two behind the scenes images courtesy of director Bryan Singer, this year’s San Diego Comic-Con was the first chance to glimpse the big bad of X-Men: Apocalypse and some of the other characters as they’ll appear in the movie. Now, with Entertainment Weekly’s latest issue, there are some fresh images for all. See all the images after the Jump... Oscar Isaac playing Apocalypse, given that he’s pretty much hidden behind layers of make-up and prosthetics to play the ancient, powerful mutant. But there he is, ready to cause trouble for James McAvoy’s Professor X, Michael Fassbender’s Magneto and the rest. The film’s story finds our heroes split across the world: the Prof is still trying to help mutants blend in with the world, while Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) is on her own crusade to settle matters between humans and mutants in a more violent fashion. Magneto, meanwhile, is opting for a quieter life of love in Poland. At least

Bryan Singer Teases 'Apocaplyse' Cerebro

Check out what the director's recent Instagram reveals about Professor X's machine. Story by Matt Cummings With Director Bryan Singer planning a July release of his epic X-Men: Days of Future Past Rogue Cut , the director has also been slowing releasing images and casting news from his latest production X-Men: Apocalypse . This includes younger actors to play Jean Grey and Scott Summers , as well as Olivia Munn joining as Psylocke . On Thursday, he released this image on Instagram: Cerebro is Spanish for brain. #Xmen #XmenApocalypse A photo posted by Bryan Singer (@bryanjaysinger) on Jun 4, 2015 at 10:58am PDT From the looks of things, Singer might be using the exact set from Days of Future Past , as not much appears to be different between them. The one item of note is Professor X's instrument panel, which looks more jutted out from the 1970's version. That one also featured a curved analog set up and this one appears with more hard edges. All Superhero Movies to 2020

We have the final, final, final version of the list. Story by Matt Cummings With the sudden announcement of the Sony/Marvel Spider-man deal back in February , the entire Marvel calendar was upended, pushing titles back and others out of the way. We wrote about this back when the news broke , but it's clear that the situation hadn't exactly settled. The addition of 2016's Gambit hadn't yet been figured out, which caused yet another wave of bloggers to hit the UPDATE button on their old stories. But it doesn't end there. Other news - such as the lackluster performance of The Amazing Spider-man 2 which forced Sony to seek out a co-partner in Marvel in the first place - also changed Sony's plans regarding Drew Goddard's Sinister Six , effectively ending its development for the time being. Not one to be left out, the all-new DCCU (DC Cinematic Universe) is also vying for our hearts (and wallets), and with news on that front happening nearly ev

Hugh Jackman Says "Wolverine 3" is His Last

You get only two more times to see the iconic actor in the role...maybe. Story by Matt Cummings The X-men film series has seemingly gone through its own version of the classic Phoenix storyline: critics have largely panned its poor plots, with some of the early films failing to hold up under today's Avengers standards. One thing that cannot be denied is its extremely strong casting: Ian McKellan as Magneto and Patrick Stewart as Professor Xavier have been excellent, some say iconic. But standing atop that list is Hugh Jackman, whose portrayal of the mutant Wolverine has made him a household name. Unfortunately, you're only going to get two more chances to see him suit up the Adamantium claws, if recent posts by the actor are to be believed. On Saturday, the 46 year old sent out this message via Instagram: WOLVERINE ...ONE LAST TIME. Jennifer Lawrence Is Done Playing Mystique

MTV is reporting Jennifer Lawrence is done with Mystique after Apocalypse . Given how in demand Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult and James McAvoy are outside their roles in the X-Men franchise , and the fact that their contracts are up after next year’s Apocalypse , it makes sense that they may all be headed elsewhere once their latest mission is completed. Asked by MTV on a red carpet about that very subject, Lawrence has confirmed that she, at least, considers Apocalypse her last X-Men movie. While the story of Magneto ( Fassbender ) and Lawrence’s Mystique is reportedly a big part of the new film’s story, there’s also scope for Bryan Singer and co. to start wrapping it up. And given the amount of new mutants – younger versions of Cyclops, Storm, Jean Grey, Nightcrawler and more – introduced this time, it already feels like the filmmakers are laying the groundwork for the likes of Magneto, Mystique, Beast and Professor X to take a back seat to the other

X-Men: Apocalypse and Deadpool Casting News

See why two signings in the X-men universe mean very different things for their respective films. Story by Matt Cummings With X-Men: Days of Future Past still basking in its critical and financial success from last summer, it's clear that Director Bryan Singer hit almost every note with his return to the franchise. That's a big difference when comparing it to the disaster that is the Spider-man camp, as Sony recently agreed to 'lend' back the iconic character to Marvel in an effort to boost his damaged reputation. There is none of that over at 20th Century Fox, where both Deadpool and X-Men: Apocalypse begin their pre-production schedules with as much inertia as we've ever seen from these respective franchises. For both, the news continues to flow in, as major casting news was announced today, giving us a better idea of the various characters that will appear. First comes Apocalypse , as we've learned that Kodi Smit-McPhee ( Dawn of the Planet

X-Men Apocalypse: Storm, Cyclops, and Jean Grey Cast

Read on to find out who will be playing the iconic characters. Story by David Clark The X-Men movie franchise is back and some fresh faces have been thrown into the mix. Coming up on the 8th major X-Men film release it seems the time is right to make old things new again for an eager audience. There are a few familiar names returning this time. The roles once filled by Patrick Stewart (Xavier) and Ian McKellen (Magneto) are now being played by their younger on screen counterparts James McKavoy and Erik Lensherr. In fact, recent rumors speculate that long standing stalwarts Patrick Stewart and McKellen may not be appearing in the film at all. The trend in the franchise of moving the series to a younger generation of actors continues with the latest casting decisions. First on the list of recent franchise acquisitions is that of the actress to play young Jean Grey. Those who are fans of the series and comics will remember that Jean Grey is the conflicted and volatile
