Val Kilmer is returning to the Wild West, playing the title role in indie Western " The First Ride of Wyatt Earp ." Mike Feifer is directing from a script by Darren Benjamin Shepherd, and production is under way in California. Based on a true story, pic finds an elderly Earp sitting down with a reporter to reflect on the ride that made him a legend, when the young marshal rounded up a posse to track down the outlaw who mistakenly murdered the woman he loved. Daniel Booko ("Glory Daze") plays Spike Kennedy, and popular recording artist Trace Adkins ("The Lincoln Lawyer") plays his father. "American Idol" finalist Diana DeGarmo is also onboard as the object of young Earp's affection. Matt Dallas ("Kyle XY") co-stars as Bat Masterson, while Wilson Bethel plays Doc Holliday. Shawn Roberts, Stephen Grayhm, Scott Whyte and Levi Fiehler round out the young ensemble. Producers envision the pic as a "'Young Guns'

Channing Tatum In the Mix For The Upcoming Captain America Film With all this casting news about the upcoming The First Avenger: Captain America, here is more news about someone else being put in the mix. Channing Tatum has got his name in the hat now. One side of me says just cast the damn film and the other says at least they are taking their time on the casting and trying to find they right actor to play the role of Captain America. Deadline reports that Marvel has also made an approach to Channing Tatum. Coming off G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra and Dear John, I would be surprised if he went in to test for the role. But he is definitely in the mix, along with other confirmed candidates that include Fantastic Four's Chris Evans, Cloverfield's Mike Vogel and Tron Legacy's Garrett Hedlun, and Generation Kill's Wilson Bethel. Who Will Carry the Captain America Shield? Hold the press we all heard that John Krasinski was the leading candidate for getting the lead role in the upcoming Captain America film. But more news is coming out daily. The answer of whom will hold Captain America’s shield and play alter ego Steve Rogers is still in Marvel’s hands, but the list of actors is being whittled down. Wilson Bethel, who starred in HBO’s “Generation Kill” and currently appearing in “The Young and the Restless,” is still in the running as is Mike Vogel, who appeared in “Cloverfield” and CBS’ “Miami Medical.” Meanwhile, Chris Evans, currently shooting "Safety Point" in Texas, has read for the part and has a test offer which may come to fruition next week. Garrett Hedlund has not tested yet though Marvel is very keen on him. The part calls for a nine-picture deal, the second of which would be the “Avengers” movie.
