Female Cast of Ghostbusters Reboot Revealed

Quartet of comediennes will nuke the spooks By Brandon Wolfe The cast of the female-led Ghostbusters reboot appears to have entered a gateway into our world. Joining the already-in-talks Melissa McCarthy will be Kristen Wiig and current Saturday Night Live cast members Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon, all of whom are currently in negotiations to pick up their proton packs, according to The Hollywood Reporter . The film is scheduled to shoot in New York City this summer. This ends an absurdly long gestation period for this project. It went through years – decades – of rumors and failed attempts as a second sequel to the original 1984 blockbuster, but never came together due to the reluctance of Venkman himself, Bill Murray, to suit up. When co-writer and co-buster Harold Ramis passed away early last year, that seemed to be the nail in the containment unit before Bridesmaids and The Heat creator Paul Feig reconceptualized the project as an all-female reboot, with no direct co

Top Five Review: Funny Moments Lessened By Needless Drama

Top Five 's outrageous humor can't keep its larger story afloat. For Comedian Chris Rock, life has been one assembly line film after another: Grown Ups, What To Do When You're Expecting, Grown Ups 2, etc. So it comes as a bit of a surprise when he tries something deeper, because his behavior for years (sans Dogma ) has been something very different. For Top Five - a project he wrote, directed, and stars - the many monumentally funny exchanges can't keep the interesting premise afloat. Andre Allen (Rock) is a superstar of film whose bear-suited cop comedies Hammy The Bear have netted him millions and demanding fans who want to see more of the same. Not for Allen: he's ready to star in important films, such as the poorly-received historical drama Uprize, about the Haitian slave rebellion. At the same time, he's getting ready to marry reality TV star Erica Long (Gabrielle Union), while sitting with press members who couldn't care less about his n

December 2014 Movies on Our Radar

The final push in 2014 for Oscars nominations and our hard-earned dollars is upon us - welcome to our December On the Radar Preview! November 2014 was filled with tasty movie goodness, offering solid Oscar candidates with a collection of enjoyable animated fare. From Penguins of Madagascar to Big Hero 6 , November began and ended with some of the best the genre had to offer. Even the live-action sequel The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 delivered on many levels. The only stinker was the disappointing Dumb and Dumber To (but don't tell our writer Brandon Wolfe we said that). But now, it's on to December and the final push towards Oscar season, with Hollywood not sure if they'll beat 2013, but happily relieved that Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain America: The Winter Solider saved them from a potentially disastrous year. But unlike previous months - especially August and September - our worry this month lies in the sheer number of quality releases:
