A race that riveted Hollywood into the early hours of Monday, Cowboy & Aliens has pulled ahead of dark horse The Smurfs to win the weekend box office race. On Sunday, Sony put Smurfs’ projected weekend at gross at $36.2 million—identical to the estimated gross of DreamWorks and Universal’s Cowboys. Both films dropped roughly 23% on Sunday, making the race impossible to call Sunday evening. Rival studios showed both films grossing roughly $35.6 million. But by midday Monday, Universal put Cowboys' opening at $36.4 million, compared to $35.6 million for Smurfs. Box office insiders said there was a problem with reporting for some AMC theaters, explaining why Cowboys' number can in higher than expected. Yup that's right another trailer for the upcoming film The Smurfs . Hey if your like me and have kids that are super excited to see this film,  atleast this trailer will hold them over until the film comes out. In the original cartoon Gargamel was all about eating the Smurfs, but that won't be the case in this film. The new trailer for The Smurfs is here. The Smurfs  is an upcoming live-action/CGI-animated family film directed by Raja Gosnell , written by J. David Stem and David N. Weiss, and stars Neil Patrick Harris, Jayma Mays, Hank Azaria and Sofía Vergara, with the voices of Jonathan Winters, Katy Perry, Jeff Foxworthy, Paul Reubens, Alan Cumming, and George Lopez . Here is our first look at the Smurfs from the upcoming film. The Smurfs are in New York city and does not gather any interest from myself at all.  I really am disappointed with Hollywood how they can turn something from our childhood in to pure crap. Sofia Vergara To Star In Upcoming Smurf Film Sofia Vergara who stars in the hit series Modern Family, will be a busy young lady the next few months.  We have news that she will be starring in the upcoming live-action Smurfs movie and she was also cast to voice a character in Happy Feet 2. She's set to play "Odile, a powerful executive at a high-end French cosmetics company who is married to the live-action character played by Neil Patrick Harris."  Hey I would cast her as Smurfalicious , if I was the casting director for the film. Vergara's will also have a role in the upcoming Happy Feet 2 film, which will also be starring Brad Pitt, Robin Williams, Elijah Wood and Hank Azaria. Neil Patrick Harris To Star In The Upcoming Smurf Film Doogie Howser, M.D., has joined the cast of the upcoming Smurf movie. Neil Patrick Harris has a TV-heavy resume. Now he's just landed the lead in Smurfs: The Movie for Sony. Harris won’t have to walk around as a blue-tinted Avatar, either. The Raja Gosnell-directed film is a mix of live action and animation, and Harris is the lead live action character. Filming begins in April, when he’ll be on hiatus from CBS' How I Met Your Mother.
