BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Movie Review: The Angry Birds Movie

Anger surprisingly doesn’t lead to suffering in game adaptation. Review by Brandon Wolfe Angry Birds has always functioned primarily as an agreeable way to pass the time on the toilet, but it’s difficult to imagine any of the millions of people who have downloaded the game over the years putting much thought into the rules that govern its world. Why are those birds so angry? Why do those pigs construct such breathtakingly shoddy structures around themselves? That one bird who is shaped and functions like a bomb, what’s his story? Players trying to carefully aim the yellow bird directly at the TNT box located at a crucial juncture almost certainly never stopped to ask themselves these hard questions, and yet here is The Angry Birds Movie to answer them all the same. The red bird with the bushy eyebrows on the game’s logo? His name, naturally, is Red, and he is voiced with the sardonic tones of Jason Sudeikis. Red lives on Bird Island, a happy little community of inexplicably flig

THR is reporting Rosario Dawson will be a member of the Bat-family in Lego Batman, Warner Bros.' spinoff of The Lego Movie. Will Arnett is reprising the Caped Crusader role he originated in Lego Movie. Michael Cera is voicing the hero’s sidekick, Robin, while Zach Galifianakis is in negotiations to play the Joker. Dawson will voice Barbara Gordon, the daughter of police commissioner James Gordon who later becomes the crime-fighting heroine Batgirl. Chris McKay, the animation supervisor on Lego Movie, is directing the project, which has a script written by author-screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith. Dan Lin, Roy Lee, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the custodians of the Lego screen brand, are producing. Dawson is a huge comic book fan (she even co-created her own comic, O.C.T.: Occult Crimes Taskforce) who recently wrapped shooting a co-starring role on season two of Netflix and Marvel’s Daredevil, playing the Night Nurse, a character she will also play in Netflix an

Universal Books Return Voyage to Jurassic World

Jurassic 5 opens June 22, 2018. By Brandon Wolfe Given its record-breaking runaway success, Universal is not about to allow another 14 years to pass before heading back to Dinoland, as the studio has carved out a June 22, 2018 release date for the follow-up to Jurassic World . Director Colin Trevorrow will write the script for the next installment, but will not return to the director's chair. However, stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will be booking their return engagements. Jurassic World now stands as the third-highest grossing film in history, worldwide. Currently, nothing else is set for that date in June 2018, but that May will bring Avengers: Infinity War Part I , The Lego Movie Sequel and the Han Solo solo film . What this ultimately means is that Chris Pratt will be ruling Hollywood for years to come. Discuss this story with fellow SJF fans on Facebook . Lego Movie Duo Directing Han Solo Star Wars Spin-Off

The space smuggler’s past will be explored. By Brandon Wolfe Phil Lord and Christopher Miller , those miracle workers behind The Lego Movie and the Jump Street films, will next go to work on a project that, unlike their previous feats, no one will initially dismiss as a bad, unworkable idea. The duo will direct a Star Wars anthology spin-off centering around none other than rakish space pirate Han Solo , iconically portrayed by Harrison Ford in the original Star Wars trilogy (and to be reprised in this December’s The Force Awakens ). Famed Empire Strikes Back writer Lawrence Kasdan (who also worked on the scripts for Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens ) will script the film along with his son, Jon Kasdan. The film, to be released May 25, 2018, will tell the tale of a young Solo in the years before he crossed paths with Luke Skywalker and the Rebel Alliance. Lord and Miller said in a joint statement, “This is the first film we’ve worked on that seems like a goo

2014 Big Movie Questions - Q3 Report

As Q3 comes to a close, we look back at several movie questions and make bold new predictions about the third quarter of 2014. As 2014 has unfolded, we've learned just how precarious the Hollywood film system is. Before summer arrived, we could see serious gaps in programming, especially once May ended. That did in fact happen, exposing a decent July (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Hercules, and The Purge: Anarchy) and a pretty awful August, with Guardians of the Galaxy being the only thing we could recommend. The year has delivered several memorable films ( Captain America: The Winter Solider and The LEGO Movie ), but what lessons have we learned about 2014 so far? Several questions we pondered back in January have finally had a chance to play out, so let's get to them. Has 2015 talk already eclipsed 2014? No, but there is some lingering concerns . 2014 has brought some amazing films like Godzilla , X-Men: Days of Future Past , Captain America: The Winter Soldier ,

Mr. Peabody & Sherman Review

Mr. Peabody & Sherman Review By: Matt Cummings Mr. Peabody & Sherman satisfies everyone's need for heartwarming animated fare.  Among the early entries into American animated television, The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show represented the closest thing to high-brow entertainment. A trio of weekly animated shorts, the show began airing in the late 1950's, and followed the adventures of an oddly-paired squirrel and moose. Nestled somewhere between that and Boris and Natasha was the time-travel historical skit Mr. Peabody & Sherman , which arrives this week into theaters. The result is a welcomed relief from the explosion-filled manliness of late Winter, and might even tug at your heartstrings. The smartest person in the world is no human, but the dog Mr. Peabody (voiced by Ty Burrell ), a canine of industry, adviser to heads of state, accomplished musician and a top chef. His adopted son Sherman (voiced by Max Charles ) forms a duo that travels th
