Farrell plays Victor, the right hand man to an underground New York crime lord ( Howard ). When he’s spotted killing on the job by Rapace’s damaged Beatrice, she reaches out to him. See, she’s been the victim of one of Howard’s actions and she’s burning with vengeance. So she blackmails Victor (who has his own reasons to be angry with Howard) and has him start to take down his boss’s operations. According to Sony, the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo sequel, The Girl Who Played With Fire , is still moving forward despite the lingering perception that Dragon Tattoo has underperformed. “[Dragon Tattoo] continues to do strong business and nothing has changed with respect to development of the next book,” a Sony rep tells EW . I’ve never read Stieg Larsson’s millennium novels, so I can’t say how faithful this film is to the original material, but I am a big fan of the Swedish adaptation by Danish filmmaker Niels Arden Oplev. Now, I know the fact that Hollywood is obsessed with remakes annoys the hell out of us, but I think there can always be room for different interpretation, different vision and approach and that’s what David Fincher’s version excels in. It’s more detailed, more curious, and more unafraid. It’s a superb and chilling thriller with an astounding performance by Rooney Mara . The duo have signed on to " Dead Man Down ," a mob drama from the the director of the original Swedish adaptation of " The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo ." Colin Farrell and Noomi Rapace will star in Dead Man Down , a mob drama to be directed by Niels Arden Oplev , who helmed the original The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo , which starred Rapace. IM Global is behind the movie and is unveiling it at AFM. Neal Moritz is producing the movie with Ori Marmur via their Original Films banner. J.H. Wyman, a writer-exec producer on Fox’s sci-fi series Fringe, is also producing. A few weeks ago the mysterious behind-the-scenes blog Mouth Taped Shut showed up twitter, immediately proving itself an invaluable resource for gorgeous, informative, or just plain cool photos from behind the scenes of David Fincher's The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo . Then that same blog tipped people off to the secret screening of 8 minutes of footage from the movie, which Eric wrote up here. It became clear that Mouth Taped Shut was more than just a production blog, but it was being run by someone who knew a lot about what was going on. Which is why this new image, which showed up at Mouth Taped Shut, seems like it might not just be some funky art, but maybe a new poster design or something else to do with the marketing campaign.
