Check out my review to learn more.11 When one considers the predicament of a sequel, there can be no doubt that a sometimes unfair spotlight is cast upon them - unrealistic fan expectations, coupled with those of the studio, usually produce mixed results. However, those sequels which hold their own, sometimes outdoing their brethren, do so for sound reasons: an improvement in the story, deeper character interactions, and a general feel that the stakes have been raised. Think about what works in The Empire Strikes Back, The Bourne Supremacy, Star Trek II, or The Two Towers and one can easily identify these and other commonalities. While he was understandably miffed that slave traders kidnapped his daughter back in 2008’s Taken , Liam Neeson is now learning that his violent, stabby / shooty reaction had consequences. Here comes the trailer for Taken 2 , which finds the heroic Bryan Mills in a spot of trouble thanks to Rade Serbedzija’s Murad and his need for revenge. After a pleasant surprise visit from daughter Kim ( Maggie Grace ) and wife Lenore ( Famke Janssen ) in Istanbul, Bryan gets a less enjoyable shock when Lenore is targeted and he’s threatened. Liam Neeson and Luc Besson have come to a meeting of the minds and they have worked out the scheduling snafu that made him iffy for Taken 2 . They are now closing the deal for Neeson to reprise what has become a signature role. Production is now being eyed for year end or beginning of 2012. Neeson will stick to his plan to take the rest of the year off, after completing the Clash of the Titans sequel he's shooting in London. He has been working almost nonstop, wrapping The Grey for Joe Carnahan and Battleship for Peter Berg. A fascinating drama has been playing out over the past few weeks on Taken 2, the sequel to the surprise global hit film hatched by Luc Besson that reinvigorated Liam Neeson. Taken 2 Is In The Works This news is nothing to get to excited about but at least they are talking and moving forward with the idea. I would love to see a sequel to this surprise hit from last summer. It has also initiated development on "Taken 2," the follow-up to the Liam Neeson starrer that has grossed $145 million in the U.S. Neeson spoke with MTV while promoting the A-Team film and he revealed that he’ll be meeting with producer Luc Besson later this month, to discuss more about plans for the sequel.. - Please Leave A Comment- Source- Variety
