#StarWarsTheForceAwakens Advance Ticket Sales Pass $100m

The film debuts to American audiences on Thursday night. Story by Matt Cummings December is usually a slow time for films, even as Hollywood dons its brightest stars in a bevy of Oscars candidates. But all of them could be wiped out by Star Wars: The Force Awakens , as The Hollywood Reporter announced that advance ticket sales had reached $100m in North America. This number is the highest for any upcoming film, beating out sales for Age of Ultron and Jurassic World. The $100m figure includes the $50-60m in sales for the opening weekend, which as you may remember shut down servers, forcing audiences to visit theaters directly to purchase their tickets. Disney has continued to decline comment on the real numbers, but emails from vendors such as Cinemark have already announced that they expanding the amount of screenings. According to THR, theaters owners agreed to take the movie if they promised to play it for four to five weeks. This isn't an uncommon practice, but ...

#StarWarsForceAwakens Trailer Debut and Ticket Purchase

The details behind the release have been revealed! Story by Matt Cummings We've been releasing news all morning about Star Wars: The Force Awakens , from a breakdown of the new poster to the marathon event to be held prior to Episode VII 's opening. Perhaps the biggest news - the impending release of another trailer and the date when tickets would be released - has been discussed for awhile. According to a press release from StarWars.com, the trailer will be shown during the Monday Night Football game on October 19th. It's supposed to be a full trailer, and not a quick 'look' into the universe as suggested by the press release. That will most likely be made available on YouTube as soon as it's released. The other big news - the pre-ticketing process - has also been clarified. Tickets for most theater chains go on sale on Monday, October 19th beginning at 7PM PST/10PM EST. It's unclear whether standalone IMAX theaters will be offering it ...

New #StarWarsForceAwakens Poster and Trailer Released

What (or who's) missing from the poster is perhaps more interesting. Story by Matt Cummings Unless you've been living under of a garbage scowl, the anticipation behind the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been almost too hard to miss. It's been almost six months since the magnificent trailer was released, showing off Chewbacca and Han Solo (and what looks like Leia Organa's hand and perhaps Luke Skywalker's) but we had yet to see an official 'character' poster. That was resolved on Sunday, when LucasFilm released the official poster, which we've included below: It's a classic and absolutely fantastic design, showing off a number of interesting conversation starters, including: - A sinister Kylo Wren carrying his homemade lightsaber - Finn carrying Luke Skywalker's New Hope lightsaber: If that one is new to you, hop on the web to see the short clip of him and Wren ready to battle in the snow forest. It's pretty ...
