According to Variety Fox’s “ 24: Legacy ” pilot has cast “ Sons of Anarchy ” alum Jimmy Smits in a lead role. Smits will play John Donovan, a powerful U.S. Senator with higher political aspirations, who is married to Rebecca ( Miranda Otto ), the blazing smart former head of CTU. In September, Amazon is set to unveil an original series called " Hand of God ," starring Ron Perlman as morally iffy judge-turned-vigilante after tragedy strikes his family. It looks like a very dark and violent drama, and may be a nice pick for people who miss " Sons of Anarchy ." All episodes will be available for streaming starting September 4. Now he’s going to get his chance to show off some Thai boxing skills in true-life tale A Prayer Before Dawn . Jean-Stephane Sauvaire is directing the film. It's drawn from the story of Billy Moore, who ended up incarcerated in the brutal Thai prison Klong Prem, known as the notorious Bangkok Hilton. There, mostly to survive, he began learning the skills of Muay Thai boxing. Nick Saltese adapted Moore’s book for Wild Bunch and Hurricane Films. Filming of Sons of Anarchy ‘s final season got underway May 28. Here’s something to look forward to: Marilyn Manson will recur as Ron Tully, a white supremacist prison shot-caller who Jax uses to expand his power base. Pacific Rim , as the project is known, is the movie del Toro decided to focus on when his long-gestating adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s At the Mountains of Madness fell apart over budgetary issues and rating. Rim is a monster movie that sees powerful extraterrestrial aliens threaten the Earth's existence, attacking cities and nations neighboring the Pacific Ocean. To meet the threat head-on, humanity develops giant robots to fight them off. The movie is influenced by mecha, the Japanese genre involving humans piloting robotic constructs. And some help it will be getting. Scott Kosar has been brought on to work on the screenplay for Summit Entertainment's "Vlad."
