Most of the time it works: pair a film made for kids with another just for the adults, and you have a successful evening out. Unfortunately, the disease that has become the 2017 Summer box office has infected so many releases that audiences are likely to stay home. Such is the case with The Beguiled , a movie with tremendous potential that dotes and doddles for 93 minutes before giving us a totally empty ending. Just one year before the end of The Civil War, and Southern plantations aren't the only ones to suffer from a lack of slaves. American Zoetrope announced today that it has acquired the motion picture rights for Alysia Abbott’s critically acclaimed memoir, FAIRYLAND: A Memoir of My Father (W. W. Norton & Company). Summit Entertainment is in the process of looking for a director for the next Twilight film, Breaking Dawn. You would think that the film would have already gone into production by now. EW states the studio has reached out to three directors so far, which include Sofia Coppola (Lost in Translation), Gus Van Sant (Milk) and Bill Condon (Dreamgirls) to gauge their interest in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, which is going to be split up into two separate films. No decision will be made until screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg's script outline is delivered to the directors sometime next week. Breaking Dawn is the fourth novel in Stephenie Meyer's popular series.
