BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Flash/Arrow Spinoff News: Hawkgirl to Join Hero Team-Up

We learn today who one of the three "mystery" heroes will be. Story by Matt Cummings Those new to the superhero-on-television trend might have forgotten the one that started it all: CW's Smallville , a mix of teenage melodrama in its first 8 seasons, and a fairly good superhero tale in its last two. During those final seasons, we were introduced to the mother of all superhero team-ups, The Justice Society of America, which featured Doctor Fate, elder versions of The Flash and The Green Lantern, and Michael Shanks as the nearly-immortal Hawkman. Hidden within the epic "Absolute Justice" was Hawkman's origin story, featuring the story of his dead love, Hawkgirl. Fast forward one disappointing series finale and two very successful - and frankly better - series in The Flash and Arrow , and we've arrived at a sort of full circle. For it was revealed today by Deadline that one of three "mystery heroes" has been cast in the team-up ...

Erica Durance Becomes Wonder Woman For A Day In Harry’s Law

Anyone who has longed to see Erica Durance channel the Wonder Woman are going to see their dream come true — albeit perhaps via the unlikeliest of circumstances. The Smallville alumna is set to guest-star on NBC’s Harry’s Law — which currently airs Wednesdays at 9/8c and was just picked up for a full second season — as a psychologically infirm woman who retreats into the persona of the DC Comics heroine to help wreak revenge on perpetrators of domestic abuse. Durance will appear in the legal dramedy’s 11th episode, which given NBC’s midseason schedule change-up does not at this moment have a firm air date. Ironically, this storytelling twist affords Harry’s Law creator David E. Kelley the chance anew to tap into the Wonder Woman mythos, after his pilot starring Adrianne Palicki as the Amazonian princess didn’t make the Peacock’s 2011-12 schedule. In fact, that coupled with the fact that Harry’s Law, like Wonder Woman, is a Warner Bros. property, raises the possibility t...

Smallville's Superman Suit Is Revealed

Finally the day has come, did it really take us ten seasons to make it to this point?  The CW has released a gallery of images from " Prophecy ," the Friday, May 6 episode of Smallville . See the Suit after the Jump... Here's how the network describes the episode: "Clark ( Tom Welling ) takes Lois ( Erica Durance ) to the Fortress to get Jor-El's (voiced by Terrance Stamp) blessing for their marriage. Jor-El bestows a unique wedding gift on the couple -- he gives Lois Clark's super powers so she can see what it's like to be him for a day. Unfortunately, the Toyman (guest star Chris Gautheir) has returned to Metropolis, so Lois must go up against the notorious villain instead of Clark. Meanwhile, Oliver (Justin Hartley) searches for the Bow of Orion, which he believes will remove the Omega symbol from his skull, and runs into Kara (guest star Laura Vandervoort), who is also on a mission to stop Darkseid." The epiosde was written by Bry...

Images Of Booster Gold & Blue Beetle From Upcoming Smallville

Smallville returns from hiatus with a new episode on April 15. A week later, on April 22, two DC Comics characters will be making an appearance in the episode: Booster Gold and Blue Beetle . The CW has released promo photos for the upcoming episode. On April 22, Lois suggests to Clark that his daytime persona should become less noticeable so that people don't suspect he's The Blur after everything that happened with the VRA. So Clark starts adopting the look of Clark Kent, newspaper reporter - complete with the trenchcoat and glasses. At the same time, Booster Gold (played by Eric Martsolf) arrives from the future. Booster is a fame-hungry superhero, who's interested in posing for reporters after saving people's lives. Metropolis starts showering Booster with gratitude and recognition and he continues on his path to overshadow The Blur as the "World's Greatest Superhero". He even tries to convince Lois to write an article about him. But Lois is...

Will Tom Welling Suit Up As Superman? Or Should He

We have another great article by our guest writer Jonathan Cyfer . Make sure to check out his blog and follow him on twitter . No, I'm not asking if Tom Welling should portray Clark Kent/Superman in the upcoming Superman: Man of Steel (2012) film. Henry Cavill already won that role. Let it go, rabid Tom Welling/Smallville fans. Let it go. I mean, should Tom Welling actually portray the Man of Steel in full Superman costume in the last reel of the two-hour Smallville series finale scheduled to air on May 13th? In other words, should Tom Welling actually be Superman on the small screen for any length of time at the end of the series? My answer is " no ". OK, here's my take. The entire series is based on the audience watching Clark develop his abilities and his personality, from a 15 year old kid who, at the start of the series, is just beginning to become aware of his powers, who he is, and (gasp) where he really comes from ("You mean you're no...

Charlie’s Angels Coming To ABC

Charlie’s Angels  will be coming to ABC next year. The pilot has been greenlit by the network. This move has been long expected, but now the project is firmly moving forward, along with Smallville writer-producers Miles Millar and Al Gough. The new modern-day version of the show will be set in Miami. The producers (Leonard Goldberg, Drew Barrymore, Nancy Juvonen), Sony Pictures TV and Flower Films will now dive into casting to figure out the tricky task of finding TV’s new Angels. We hear there’s an offer out to Mark Piznarski (Gossip Girl) to direct. Are you going to give this show a chance? Remakes have traditionally struggled to find viewers on broadcast, though CBS’ showed with Hawaii Five-0 that you can pull off a primetime hit with a classic title. And Angels is certainly on-brand for a network that has a strong female following with shows like Grey’s Anatomy and Desperate Housewives. But ABC is riding high this fall with its adaptation of another such property, "...

Splitting Heroes Down the Middle By: Jonathan Cyfer

Splitting Heroes Down the Middle By: Jonathan Cyfer  It's not completely unheard of to have a particular character appear both in a TV series and in films. After all, Clark Kent has enjoyed a robust lifetime on the silver screen and in the Smallville TV series. 2012 will bring us the latest Superman film , but it's presumed that the Smallville series will end after the conclusion of the current 2010/2011 season. This avoids confusion among the fans between the different incarnations and storylines involving the same character, however that isn't going to be the case with all superhero franchises. I'm sure you're all aware of the latest Incredible Hulk (2008) film and the fact that this character (with a change of actors playing Bruce Banner ) will be appearing in the upcoming Avengers (2012) film. I just found out that a new, live action Incredible Hulk TV show is being developed for ABC. Many Hulk fans fondly remember the Hulk TV series (1978-1982) sta...

Smallville Episode 1 "Lazarus"Review By: Jason Albrecht

Smallville Episode 1 "Lazarus"Review By: Jason Albrecht Smallville is a comic lover’s embarrassment. I want to like it, and at times I do (very few and very far between). Last season had a few bright points ( Hawkman for one), but the season premiere let down every hope I had from the season finale. I have nothing good to say about it. Nothing. It had moments where it could have stopped being reserved and grabbed the bull by the reigns. Have Chloe become Dr. Fate . How cool would that have been? But it would have been too bold for Smallville. It’s the last season for Clark ’s sake. Give him the suit early and make us love him. Instead they decided that he needs to be taught another lesson, again. At least we saw this season’s villain: Darkseid (the impending darkness hinted at heavy handedly last season and throughout the first episode of this season). But seriously? He formed out of a moving cloud of smoke?? This isn’t Lost and that’s no smoke monster....

Teri Hatcher To Play Lois's Mom On Smallville

Teri Hatcher To Play Lois's Mom On Smallville For the show’s 10th and final season, producers have scored perhaps their biggest (maybe even the biggest possible) casting coup: They’ve snagged erstwhile Lois Lane Teri Hatcher to play mom to Erica Durance ’s Lois Lane! I know what you’re thinking: But Lois’ mom, Ella, is dead! Follow along now… In episode 8, titled “ Abandoned ,” Lois discovers old videotapes of her mother. I think you can figure the rest out for yourself. Am I right? As you know, Hatcher spent four years playing Superman’s soul mate on ABC’s Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman . The fact that the Desperate Housewives star was game to do this speaks volumes about her appreciation for that role (and the role it played in her future career). I’m sure they’re also paying her well, too. More Smallville news Click Here . Please Leave A Comment- Source- EW

Smallville And The Rebirth of Superman By Jonathan Cyfer

Smallville And The Rebirth of Superman By Jonathan Cyfer As just about all the superhero loving world knows, this coming Season of Smallville will be the last season. Depending on your level of Smallville "fanhood", your response to this news probably ranges from some minor sadness to virtually suicidal depression. The silver lining in the cloud of Kryptonite is that Chris Nolan ( The Dark Knight ) is at the helm of the Superman reboot film: Superman: The Man of Steel . So Smallville will end in Spring 2011 and the new Superman film will be released the following year. This begs the question of just how connected the two projects are. If you've watched the Smallville series and the Christopher Reeve Superman films, you know that a lot of the elements from the films made their way into the Smallville mythos. For instance, crystals seem to play an important role, and the Fortress of Solitude in the Arctic continues to ring with the voice of Jor-El. There's still...

Smallville Season 10 Surprise & Panel Update

Smallville Season 10 Surprise & Panel Update We have been hearing things about the " Lazarus " first episode of the tenth and final season of Smallville. A few site out there are reporting that the character has been dead so a awhile and will be resurrected for more then one episode of the show. Spoiler Alert: None other than John Schneider is set to return to the series in Season 10, reprising his role as Clark's adoptive human father, Jonathan Kent. Obviously Jonathan's return raises some questions, given that the character died back in Season 5 . I can't reveal yet the how and why of Jonathan's appearance, but I can tell you that we'll see him in the season premiere, entitled "Lazarus." In addition, Schneider is expected to appear in at least one other episode as the season continues. Season will premiere on  Friday, September 24th on The CW . I am sure we will hear more news during their panel at Comic-Con in a few weeks. Mak...

Rediscovering the Essential Superman By:jonathancyfer

Rediscovering the Essential Superman By:jonathancyfer We want to welcome guest writer jonathancyfer to the site and we are looking forward to adding him to our sandwich family. In a recent interview with Empire magazine, Christopher Nolan (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight) discussed his role as " mentor " for the upcoming Superman film reboot , scheduled for release during the 2012 holiday season. One of the most widely circulated statements made by Nolan was: "What you have to remember with both Batman and Superman, is that what makes those the best superhero characters there are, the most beloved after all this time, is the essence of who those characters were when they were created and when they were first developed. And you can't ever move too far from that." There is a tremendous amount of speculation regarding what form the new Superman film will take. Assuming that Nolan will have more than a passing amount of influence on the movie franchise's r...

Smallville Returning For A 10th Season

Smallville Returning For A 10th Season As most of us thought CW is going to bring back Samllville for a 10th season, even after that horrible 2hr special Smallville: Absolute Justice. Wow was that a bad one. The series has been holding up strong for the network on ultra-tough Friday nights this season. “Smallville” joins five previously announced series that will return next season on the network -- “The Vampire Diaries,” “Gossip Girl,” “90210,” “Supernatural” and “America’s Next Top Model." Smallville: Absolute Justice Trailer

Smallville: Absolute Justice Trailer The two-hour "Absolute Justice" arc seems like it might be the thing that brings me back to "Smallville." This season Clark takes his superhero persona into obsessive territory when he leaves behind those he cares for so that he can focus solely on Jor-El's training. In order to accomplish this, Clark wears a new costume that sports his family crest on the chest. The theme of the season is about Clark finally embracing his alien heritage, while also being his darkest hour thus far. As a result, Clark's relationship with Chloe and Oliver will suffer this season. Season nine will also see the introduction of more DC Comics characters, including multiple episode appearances for the Justice Society of America, villain Metallo, and villainess Agent Amanda Waller. Written by prolific comic creator Geoff Johns, "Absolute Justice" will feature the debut of one of my favorite superhero teams: The Justice Society of Ameri...
