BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Robert Downey Jr Star In Perry Mason Film

Having launched two franchises with Sherlock Holmes and Iron Man , Robert Downey Jr is looking to keep the iconic roles coming by developing a new movie based on the Perry Mason character originally created by novelist Erle Stanley Gardner. Warner Bros., which has produced the Sherlock films, is involved with the Mason development, kicked off once estate attorney Joe Horacek nabbed the rights to the character. Downey and co-producer David Gambino have come up with a story idea and are now in the process of finding a writer to turn it into a screenplay. While the character of Perry Mason is best known to audiences through the Raymond Burr-starring TV series, the legal eagle actual first stalked the courts in Gardner’s books, the first of which was published in 1933. The author went on to write 82 novels and many short stories, which revolved around Mason, secretary Della Street, private eye Paul Drake and the team’s legal nemesis, Hamilton Burger. And this won’t be the firs

Chris Tucker Joining "The Rabbit"

Will Chris Tucker Hop Like A Rabbit? Considering how little he tends to work (at least when Brett Ratner's not on the phone), you’d almost think there’d be some sort of alarm when Chris Tucker ’s linked to a new project. Maybe a recording of his weird DJ from The Fifth Element? Anyway, no matter what it sounds like, Warner Bros. is pulling the chain to fire it up as the studio has just bought The Rabbit , a spec script that will likely feature him. There aren’t actually any details about the screenplay to hand just yet, though we do know that newcomer Micah Barnett wrote it and, according to Deadline , it’ll be an action comedy in the Midnight Run mould. So that probably means Tucker being a loud mouth and getting tracked down for something, then forming an unlikely partnership with a grouchy, mumbling partner. But that’s just a guess, of course. The only other solid information is that regular Warners producer Dan Lin – he of the Sherlock Holmes movies, and the man currentl

Guy Ritchie Sherlock Holmes Sequel In Lobo Out

Guy Ritchie Sherlock Holmes Sequel In Lobo Out Director Guy Ritchie has set aside the planned "Lobo" film to clear his schedule for a fast-tracked "Holmes" sequel, according to producer Joel Silver. "Holmes" has pulled in $389 million in worldwide box office since its Christmas Day release and looks to add to that with overseas releases still pending in Germany, Japan, France and several other markets. The role of the famed literary detective also just earned Robert Downey Jr. a surprise Golden Globe, suggesting that the actor might still be in play for an Oscar nomination next week. Silver is a producer of "Holmes" as well as "Lobo," which would adapt the ultra-violent antihero from the pages of DC Comics. Ritchie, who burst on the scene with "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" in 1998, has his biggest commercial success with "Holmes," and Warner Bros. wants to parlay that into a franchise as quickly as possible,

Sherlock Holmes Movie Review By: Windy

Sherlock Holmes Movie Review By: Windy Windy has out done herself again. Coming in with a home run review! What would we do without her? Make sure to visit her site and let her know what a great job she is doing. "Sherlock Holmes", directed by Guy Ritchie, takes place in 1891 London, just as the well-known Tower Bridge was being constructed. The film is extremely fast paced in both movement and dialogue-too fast at times. It may have been the dialect of the time, but in 2009, the words become hard to discern. Kudos to Robert Downey Jr for picking up such a strong dialect, but it needed to be slowed for the audience. Downey Jr's character is well-developed, as we hear his thoughts throughout the movie, see into his home and learn about his techniques for solving mysteries. Dr. John Watson, played by Jude Law, is also well developed as Holmes' partner who has to balance life-threatening detective work, his friendship with Holmes and his relationship with his soon-to

Joel Silver Talks Upcoming Films. Swamp Thing,Sgt. Rock,Wonder Women and Lobo "Sherlock Holmes" producer Joel Silver has his hands full with films based on literary heroes these days, and as many comic book fans are aware, quite a few of those projects hail from the DC Comics universe. Since his name is attached to many of the projects we're most excited about these days, Silver offered MTV News a quick update on some of those projects during the "Sherlock Holmes" red carpet event last week. We pressed the comics-friendly producer for his thoughts on everything from "Swamp Thing" to "Lobo" and many of the other films drawing on DC's massive stable of characters. When asked about his previous comments regarding a 3-D "Swamp Thing" movie, Silver reiterated his belief that 3-D was the intended format for a film about DC's famous swamp creature. Details On The Sequel To Sherlock Holmes Movie hasn't even come out yet and they are already talking sequel. Hope their eggs don't hatch to soon. Brad Pittis set to star as Moriarty in the new pic, say people familiar with the project, though there is no deal in place for him to take the part. Susan Downey , Dan Lin and Joel Silver produced " Holmes ," a holiday release that, from well-received footage at Comic-Con, appeared to be an action-heavy rendition of the world Sir Arthur Conan Doyle created. Guy Ritchie helms the pic, and Downey stars as the title character; Jude Law plays protege Watson, and Rachel McAdams stars as love interest Irene Adler. Much of the talent is expected to return in the new pic, as could Ritchie as director.
