New Line Cinema’s horror thriller “IT,” directed by Andrés Muschietti (“Mama”), is based on the hugely popular Stephen King novel of the same name, which has been terrifying readers for decades. Dope's Rick Famuyiwa Will Direct The Flash Movie

Warner Bros. and DC's film version of The Flash seemed to be going full speed ahead back in October of last year, when Dark Shadows script man Seth Grahame-Smith stepped aboard to make it his directorial debut. But he left just as suddenly at the start of last month, leaving the film without a director. A replacement has now been found, with Dope's Rick Famuyiwa taking the job. Famuyiwa will inherit Grahame-Smith's script for the movie, though he'll probably have some input into any changes moving forward. Ezra Miller, who was introduced as the speedster in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, is set to reprise the role in the first Justice League movie, which is now shooting. Hiring Famuyiwa has the feeling of a positive step forward: while he hasn't worked on a big tentpole effects film, he's brought a lot of vision and heart to his indie work and hiring directors with his sort of CV hasn't hurt Marvel, which saw success with the likes of Joe and An...

Bad News For The Upcoming Flash Movie

THR is reporting The Flash movie has lost its director. Seth Grahame-Smith was attached to direct the super hero film starring Ezra Miller , but is leaving over " creative differences ." Seth Grahame-Smith is leaving the Warner Bros. project due to “creative differences,” Grahame-Smith, the author and screenwriter of such works as Pride & Prejudice & Zombies and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter , was to have made his directorial debut on the project that was based on the iconic DC Entertainment scarlet speedster super hero. The project will retain Grahame-Smith’s script, which he wrote working off a treatment from Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the Lego Movie duo that were once eyeing it as a possible directing vehicle. Flash already has a release date – March 3, 2018 – and an actor who portrays the classic hero known as "the fastest man alive" – Ezra Miller, and there is plenty of time for the studio to find a director. Miller’s Flash, aka...

Movie Review: Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

Genre hybrid is a failure from Austen to Zombies. Review by Brandon Wolfe The concept of zombies shambling their way into the prim-and-proper realm of Jane Austen is a fitfully amusing one. It might have made an agreeable SNL sketch. The book in which the mash-up was birthed seems to have its fans, but the film version of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies most certainly does not work. It’s a curious misfire, where it’s difficult to imagine even how it might have worked, in a theoretical sense, given that once you get past the novelty of the logline, there isn’t really anywhere left to go. Based on the novel by Seth Grahame-Smith, who has managed to parlay this gimmick into a very happening screenwriting career, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies offers precisely what its title promises, which is to retell Austen’s story with the undead peppered into it. Once more, it’s 19th century Britain and the Bennet family, a brood bustling with five daughters, is making the acquaintance of the...

Seth Grahame-Smith Is In Talks To Direct & Write The Flash

THR is reporting Seth Grahame-Smith is in negotiations to direct and write The Flash , Warner Bros.' comic book movie based on the iconic DC Entertainment scarlet speedster super hero. The movie project has a treatment from Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the Lego Movie duo that were also eyeing it as a possible directing vehicle. Instead, the busy duo is headed to a galaxy far, far away (in this case just down the street to Disney) to tackle the Han Solo Star Wars movie, thus instigating a new search for a helmer. Flash already has a release date – March 3, 2018 – and an actor who portrays the classic hero known as "the fastest man alive" – Ezra Miller . Miller’s Flash, aka. Barry Allen, is due to be introduced in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice , and then more prominently in Justice League Part 1, which will be released in the summer of 2017. The Flash is already generating awareness in the form of a hit television series on the CW. Charles Roven is pr...

ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER Review By: MattINRC

ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER Review By: MattINRC ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER is a wickedly-fun, over-the-top vampire slashfest that requires total suspension of disbelief. The world of historical fiction has been the subject of many classic novels, which use real historical time periods but fictional characters and situations to tell its story. In those worlds, reality is skewed just enough to make its existence in the real timeline plausible. Novels like Horatio Hornblower, I Claudius, and Patrick O'Brien'sMaster and Commander series were all eventually made into movies that experienced varying levels of success. But the movie  ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER  is different, existing in a highly-stylized world of ultra-violence and slow-motion edits, but told from the perspective of an actual historical figure. Taken from the novel by author Seth Grahame-Smith (who also wrote the screenplay), Hunter is historical fiction on steroids, requiring total suspensi...

Stephen King's "IT" Coming To Big Screen's

Warner Bros’ adaptation of the classic Stephen King novel It has a director and writer. Cary Fukunaga , the hot-shot filmmaker behind last year’s adaptation of Jane Eyre , is boarding the project as director and will co-write the script with Chase Palmer, who previously adapted Frank Herbert’s Dune for Paramount. Roy Lee and Dan Lin are producing It, as are Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg of KatzSmith Production. A best-selling book when it was published in1986, It, like The Stand, is one of King’s biggest and most dense tomes, and the plan is for Fukunaga and Palmer to adapt the work into two films. The story follows a group of kids called the Losers Club that encounter a creature called It, which preys on children and whose favorite form is that of a sadistic clown called Pennywise. When the creature resurfaces, the kids are called upon to regroup again, this time as adults, even though they have no memory of the first battle. The book was previously adapted in 19...

Lincoln: Vampire Hunter New Poster

Here is the new poster for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter via Empire   puts old Abe ( Benjamin Walker ) front and centre in the movie's not-entirely-historical world. On a train, to be precise. A flaming death train. Well, this is a Timur Bekmambetov movie. It was never going to be the 16.47 to Wanstead. Adapted from Seth Grahame-Smith vampire genre mash, Vampire Hunter sticks an axe into Abraham Lincoln's hand and no doubt sneaks a trick or two under that stovepipe hat, as the Prez tackles the massed ranks of the undead. The vampire cohorts are led by the exceptionally nasty Adam ( Rufus Sewell ), while saddling up on Team Abe are wife Mary Todd Lincoln ( Mary Elizabeth Winstead ) and his vampire-smiting guru Henry Sturges ( Dominic Cooper ). To recap: that's Howard Stark and Ramona Flowers versus the massed ranks of the undead. And AlanTudyk's in the mix as Stephen A. Douglas. Fight! If you wonder what the 19th century would have looked like if, instead o...
