The model-actress has nabbed the plum role of CJ Parker in Baywatch , Paramount’s big-screen take on the 1990s television series about California lifeguards that star Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron . Seth Gordon is directing the feature, which is swimming towards a shoot with Alexandra Daddario also in the crew. CJ Parker, one of the lifeguards on the team, was a longstanding character on the original show and played by Pamela Anderson, who vaulted to international fame playing her. Paramount’s movie centers on the leader of an elite group of lifeguards (Johnson) who is forced to team up with a young hotshot former Olympian (Efron) in order to save the beloved bay. Efron is in negotiations to star opposite Dwayne Johnson in Paramount’s Baywatch , the big-screen take on the 1990s television series about California lifeguards. After years of development, the project seems to finally be ramping up and in recent weeks it added Seth Gordon as director. Efron’s casting sets the movie up for a production start in early 2016, likely in February. The story centers on a by-the-book and very serious lifeguard ( Johnson ) who is forced to team up with a young rule-flouting hothead ( Efron ) in order to save their beach from environmental destruction at the hands of an oil tycoon. Variety is reporting that Seth Gordon is in negotiations to direct Dwayne Johnson in Paramount’s bigscreen adaptation of the TV series “ Baywatch .” Johnson is attached to star and will produce along with his partner Dany Garcia through their Seven Bucks Productions banner along with Montecito Pictures producing along with Beau Flynn. Michael Berk, Douglas Schwartz, Greg Bonnan will exec produce. While plot details are currently vague, sources close to the project have said the studio wants to go the comedic route for the project. Paramount has been trying to get the right ingredients in place in order to move forward with the film, and Gordon is the sort of director the studio has been looking to over the years. Gordon’s hit vulgar comedies like “Horrible Bosses” and “Identity Theft” have made him a popular director at the studios amid moviegoers’ craving for R-rated comedies. The latest project, which will no longer carry the National Lampoon credit, is being described as more of an update than a sequel and will be closer in tone to "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" than the previous chapters. Story will focus on Rusty Griswold, now a grown man, who decides to take his own wife and kids on a road trip to Wally World before it closes forever. Chase is expected to reprise his role as Clark Griswold, now a grandfather. "Vacation" marks Goldstein and Daley's fourth project at New Line in 2½ years. Rashida Jones is attached to star and co-wrote the script with Will McCormack, which tracks a couple in the midst of a divorce attempting to maintain their friendship while pursuing new relationships. Seth Gordon is in negotiations to develop and direct "Celeste and Jesse Forever," a divorce comedy set up at Overture. The project was first set up at Fox Atomic, but moved to Overture when that shingle was shuttered.
