BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Movie Review: SICARIO, Day of the Soldado If Modern Warfare was a made into a movie this would be it

In SICARIO, Day of the Soldado , the series begins a new chapter. In the drug war, there are no rules – and as the cartels have begun trafficking terrorists across the US border, federal agent Matt Graver ( Josh Brolin ) calls on the mysterious Alejandro ( Benicio Del Toro ), whose family was murdered by a cartel kingpin, to escalate the war in nefarious ways. Alejandro kidnaps the kingpin’s daughter to inflame the conflict – but when the girl is seen as collateral damage, her fate will come between the two men as they question everything they are fighting for. Sicario Sequel Titled "Soldado"

The hazardous world of narcs, the FBI, cartels and the Mexican borders seems an unlikely starting point for a franchise, but then the same might have been said about the Italian mafia in 1970s New York. Whether Sicario does a Godfather and spawns a crime trilogy remains to be seen, but it does have a sequel – Soldado – and, according to Deadline, a director in Suburra’s Stefano Sollima Yet to arrive on these shores, Suburra is a multi-strand Italian thriller replete with corruption, crime and gloss. It’s compelling stuff and, with strong work on the TV adaptation of Gomarra also to his name, marks Sollima out as a natural fit for the terrain. Sicario, of course, married up Emily Blunt’s FBI agent, Josh Brolin ’s shady CIA operative and Benicio Del Toro ’s mysterious Alejandro Gillick in an uncomfortable alliance against a Mexican cartel. Principles, morality and their corrosion in the face of tonnes of guns, money and white powder are likely to figure strongly again as themes

#BoxOffice Report: 'The Martian' Shines, 'The Walk' Falls Off The Wire

The Ridley Scott film could be the biggest October opening ever. Story by Matt Cummings If August 2015 broke all kinds of box office records for infamy, October 2015 could do the same but in the more preferred direction. The beginning of the Oscar season kicked off with two very good showings, even though the specter of serious disappointment has already claimed one hopeful submission. Coming in at No. 1 was Science-Fiction epic The Martian with a stunning $55m haul, which nearly doubles the performance of the No. 2 film. Martian is only $700,000 behind the Oscar winner Gravity , which is also about an American astronaut stranded in space and needing a rescue. Director Ridley Scott is back in a big way with The Martian , which tells of astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) surviving on Mars until a rescue mission can reach him. We loved the movie (read our review HERE ), so it was no surprise it resonated with both fans and critics. The impressive performance is jus

Brandon discusses the possibility of a Lethal Weapon television show (while Matt vomits), and both hurl at the news of a comedy director for Thor: Ragnarok . Matt discusses two movies he watched this week

Movie Review: 'Sicario'

After a very slow start, Sicario becomes one of the best movies of the year. Review by Matt Cummings August and early September were some of the worst I've ever seen at the box office. But luckily, the Oscar season is approaching, with several noteworthy films having already arrived. Among them is the thriller Sicario which almost takes too long to get going. But once it finally does, it becomes a brutal, engrossing experience that is instantly worthy of Oscar praise. Set on the US-Mexican border, Sicario introduces us to the Idealistic FBI Agent Kate (Emily Blunt) who discovers a grisly reminder of the Mexican cartels' power. Soon, she's whisked away to a intra-agency meeting with the flip-flop wearing Matt (Josh Brolin), who offers her a chance to find out who left her with a house full of corpses. Thrown into a hornet's nest of crime and violence on a scale she's never seen, Kate must decide whether Matt and his mysterious friend Alejandro (B

Trailer For The Documentary #CartelLand

The multi-billion dollar cocaine trafficking industry is much in the thoughts of filmmakers at the moment. The much-praised Sicario hits screens next month, while Triple Frontier is still bubbling about with J.C. Chandor possibly attached. Before either of those, however, comes possibly the starkest look at the subject of them all: the jolting, jarring doc Cartel Land . Watch the trailer after the Jump... Expect to hear plenty about this one in the coming weeks. Director Matthew Heineman took fly-on-the-wall documentary making to another level by embedding right in the middle of the flying shrapnel of Mexico’s Michoacán state. His aim was to chart the war between the citizen vigilantes – the Autodefensas – and the Knights Templar cartel that had inflicted huge damage on the region for many years. Like Sicario, the film straddles both sides of the border between the US and Mexico. A further strand of the narrative focused on a small guerrilla force known as Arizona Border Re
