With the mid-week releases and festivities of the Thanksgiving weekend now in the past, this early December period proved to be a sleepy one for the American box office. Which meant that the top few movies are almost unchanged, with Ralph Breaks The Internet staying top, adding $25.7 million. In total across the pond, the film now has more than $119 million, with over $206 million in its worldwide coffers. At the rate it's going, it'll outpace the original Ralph before too long. The one main change in the top five was The Grinch and Creed II swapping places, as the latest animated on the season favorite jumped into second place, earning $17.7 million. Creed II wasn't far behind, though, with $16.8 million in third. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald stayed fourth on $11.2 million, while Bohemian Rhapsody maintained position in fifth, taking home $8.1 million. After a heated bidding war, Sony is in talks to acquire a pitch set in the world of “ Robin Hood .” Cory Goodman and Jeremy Lott brought the pitch to Sony and sources say it sold in the low seven-figure range. Sony had no comment. Plot details are vague other than that it’s a re-imagining of the classic “ Robin Hood ” tale. Insiders say Working Title and Paramount had also circled the project but it was Sony and president of production Michael De Luca who ultimately landed it. Universal Pictures was the last studio to take on the property with Ridley Scott directing and Russell Crowe starring. It is late 12th century England and Sir Robin Hood of Locksley, Earl of Huntington, (Russell Crowe) has returned to his North English village after fighting in the Third Crusade. Upon arrival, the nobleman and his servant discover the oppression caused by the new Sheriff of Nottingham (Matthew Macfadyen). Sir Robin uses his intelligence and military skills to free his home village from tyranny and corruption in England, by taking back what is rightfully his, and by taking back what rightfully is theirs, to restore justice and happiness to England.
