Simon Pegg Co-Writing Star Trek 3

Trek Sequel Beams Up New Writer In the bid to get the next Star Trek sequel out in time for the franchise’s 50th anniversary in 2016 after Robert Orci’s demotion from the project, Paramount has enlisted Simon Pegg, Scotty himself, to co-write a draft at warp speed so that production can proceed at full impulse power. According to a report from Deadline , Pegg will be working with Doug Jung, who created the TNT series Dark Blue and has worked with Bad Robot Productions previously on a film titled Diamond . The storyline has not yet been revealed, but Fast and Furious director Justin Lin recently took over for Orci in the big chair. Pegg is an exciting choice to liven up Star Trek , having previously co-written the Edgar Wright-directed Cornetto Trilogy ( Shaun of the Dead , Hot Fuzz and The World’s End ) with Nick Frost. He also wrote Run Fatboy Run , but let’s not focus on that right now. Discuss this story with fellow SJF fans on Facebook . On Twitter, follow us at @San
