By Brandon Wolfe The Hollywood Reporter is Hollywood reporting that Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, writers of the final four (so far) installments in the Saw series, have been hired to write the script for what is being called a "recalibration" of the Halloween franchise. Malek Akkad, son of longtime Halloween executive producer Moustapha Akkad, will be producing along with Matt Stein. The big question here, obviously, is what in God's holy name does "recalibration" mean? One would think it's simply a sly way to say "reboot" without using that tired old chestnut, but Bloody Disgusting has confirmed that the film will be neither a remake of the original classic nor a sequel to Rob Zombie's reboot films from 2007 and 2009 (it will also not be produced in 3D, as previously rumored).
