Without a doubt, one of the most anticipated TV events of 2018 is The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story . The FX miniseries not only comes from the Emmy Award-winning team from The People v. O.J. Simpson , including executive producer Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story), but also features an all-star cast, including Darren Criss as Andrew Cunanan, Edgar Ramirez as Gianni Versace, Ricky Martin as Gianni’s longtime partner Antonio D’Amico, and Academy Award winner Penelope Cruz as Donatella Versace. EW now has your exclusive first official image of Cruz as Donatella, who took control of her brother’s fashion house after Gianni’s murder by Cunanan in 1997. Dressed in a hot pink gown in the image above, Cruz’s Donatella is flanked by two muscular men near the pool at Villa Casa Casuarina, the Miami Beach mansion where Gianni lived and was killed. While the return of Derek and Hansel might have taken too long, the results are still entertaining. So far, Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales , the fifth installment of the sea-going mega-franchise, has largely been weathering storms of bad buzz. Word of script changes, weather delays and, most recently, Johnny Depp injuring his hand have not helped matters. Looking to get something a little more positive out there, producer Jerry Bruckheimer has unveiled a first look at Depp in the film. Unsurprisingly, he looks very much as you’d expect: Jack Sparrow being Jack Sparrow, getting into trouble and looking wide-eyed as he does so. The adventure this time has Kon-Tiki directors Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning sharing the captain’s chair, with Jack once again down on his luck. We’ve been hearing tantalising things about the chances of Zoolander 2 actually coming to life, and a big step has just occurred. Penelope Cruz is now signing on to co-star with Ben Stiller in the comedy sequel. Hey, if Dumb & Dumber can come back and score a hit, why not this? The Zoolander sequel has been in the works for years, with various script drafts passing through. Justin Theroux , who had been attached to direct before his work on HBO drama The Leftovers got in the way, has written the most recent draft on the script, which Stiller is planning to direct. The well-cast but poorly-edited The Counselor takes too long to suck us in.   Warning: Boring times and SPOILERS ahead! Do you have control of your life once the 'big decision' is made? Job? That's the premise of The Counselor , a well-cast but horribly-edited film that stunningly wastes all of its assets, making us realize that bad decisions do have consequences. A lawyer ( Michael Fassbender ) on the financial ropes enters the drug trafficking world, only to see his 'investment' stolen by the scheming girlfriend of his naive partner Reiner ( Javier Bardem ). As expected, Penelope Cruz has joined the stellar cast of the Ridley Scott -directed The Counselor , and I’m told that she is planning to team up again this summer with director Pedro Almodovar in Los Amantes Pasajeros, the comedy he will shoot this summer in Madrid. The title’s translation is The Brief Lovers, and reports say it’s about an affair on an airplane. It is what the actress considers a special collaboration between herself and Almodovar, whose films together include Broken Embraces, Volver, All About My Mother and Live Flesh. Cruz joins Paz Vega, Lola Dueñas, Javier Cámara, Cecelia Roth, Carlos Areces, Raúl Arévalo and José Maria Yazpik. Even before the release of the newest installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean series. Disney has closed a deal with Terry Rossio to write the fifth installment of Pirates of the Caribbean. This will be the first one without Ted Elliott, his screenwriting accomplice on the first four pictures. The studio is also making moves to bring back director Rob Marshall for his second voyage on the franchise. This comes as his first effort, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides , is moving through post-production for a May 20, 2011 release. I'm told that Johnny Depp has a deal structure to return for a fifth film that will clearly be drawn up for him to reprise Jack Sparrow, though it's too early to consider him locked.
