Zoey Deutch Joins Zombieland Sequel

We're creeping ever closer to a time when the Zombieland sequel will be actual reality, and only 10 years after the original. With Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin all back for this one, director Ruben Fleischer has begun to fill out some new roles, with Zoey Deutch the first fresh name to join the cast. With the original film's Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick back as writers following their time spent helping Deadpool's Merc With A Mouth his quippy voice, the sequel finds Columbus, Tallahassee, Wichita and Little Rock travelling from the White House to the American heartland, facing off against new, evolving zombies and some other human survivors. Variety reports that Deutch's character is unknown for now, though chances are she's playing one of the new humans – for how long is another mystery. The cameras should be rolling in January, with Sony looking to have the movie out on 11 October next year, right out the time the ...

It's Chimichanga Time. Ryan Reynolds Confirms Deadpool Role

Though it would seem to be little more than a formality at this point, there was no official confirmation, when 20th Century Fox announced that the Deadpool film was actually happening, that Ryan Reynolds would return. He’s now busy making a deal for the film, and announced that less-than-cryptically via Twitter . Deadline, meanwhile, reports that he’s in the middle of closing a deal for the film, which VFX expert-turned-director Tim Miller will wrangler together starting in March. Despite his eventually silenced form in X-Men Origins: Wolverine , the character best known as Wade Wilson, the Merc With A Mouth is normally found chattering away about everything, and even breaking the fourth wall as he goes about his missions. Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have written the script, and have said in the past that they intend to honor the character’s wisecracking, meta nature. The test footage that arrived online in the middle of the year certainly kept that sp...

It's Finally Going To Happen. #Deadpool Film Slated For 2016

Twentieth Century Fox and Marvel Comics are moving ahead with their long-gestating X-Men spinoff Deadpool . On Thursday, the studio announced that the movie will hit theaters Feb. 12, 2016. Tim Miller is set to direct the film, with Ryan Reynolds long rumored to star, although no deal is set. (Bets are that he will.) The beloved Marvel character Deadpool, aka Wade Wilson , is a talkative mercenary with a host of powers, including the ability to heal rapidly. Reynolds played Wilson in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine , while Scott Adkins played the character of Deadpool after Wilson had transformed. News of Deadpool's release comes weeks after test footage of the project leaked briefly online. The sequence, featuring Reynolds, was shot several years ago, but nevertheless sparked intense conversation on social media. In a recent interview, Reynolds commented on the leak, suggesting it helped move the process along. "The movie has been in a state of limbo for a wh...

Deadpool Test Footage Clip

While the Deadpool movie appears to be still unable to find a strong foothold at 20th Century Fox, it has been in development for years. Thanks to director Tim Miller, the Merc With A Mouth got closer than other attempts. Along with Blur Studios, he created a short piece of test footage to show how Deadpool might work on screen. A snippet of that leaked recently, but now Miller and co. have officially put it online. Featuring voice and mo-cap contributions from Ryan Reynolds – who has been trying to push the movie forward for years since playing a less-than-successful version of Wade Wilson in X-Men Origins: Wolverine – it’s a violent, funny, thrilling piece of 'what if?' filmmaking, one that is almost certain to delight those hoping for a snarktastic, fourth-wall shattering, R-rated take on the wise-cracking superhero. Ryan Reynolds Wants A Deadpool Film

Though DC diehards will no doubt be eagerly anticipating the big screen arrival of Green Lantern come June 17, there are still millions of us just as excited about the potential of Marvel’s “ Merc With The Mouth ” getting his chance to shine in his own lead role. Empire was on set to speak with Mr. Reynolds himself for our feature on the willpower-wielding cosmic cop (see the current issue), we took a bit of time out with him to talk about Deadpool , beginning with the obvious question… what’s the deal there then? “Deadpool’s still in the works,” he insists. “I’m not sure how logistically it works in terms of scheduling, but yeah, I want it to happen.” And what about the clash of two potential superhero brands, Green Lantern vs. Deadpool? “Those two universes are completely different,” contends Reynolds. “Superhero movies are so pervasive in pop culture, I don’t look at the as superhero roles as much as just roles. They’re such different people. Deadpool is about a guy in a ...

Ryan Reynolds Talks Deadpool Film

The Merc With A Mouth Talks Deadpool Film Ryan Reynolds hopes to be the face of two competing superhero franchises with “ Green Lantern ” and “ Deadpool ” but, after reading the gleefully subversive script for the latter, he isn’t too concerned about moviegoers getting the characters confused. “It goes in such a different direction than a superhero movie usually goes,” Reynolds said over lunch recently at 101 Coffee Shop. “It’s a nasty piece of work. It’s just based in so much emotional filth, completely. It’s like ‘Barfly‘ if it were a superhero movie. It sort of treads into the world of an emotionally damaged person. I always say that Deadpool is a guy in a highly militarized shame spiral…. It’s so different than the superhero movies to date, it departs so far from that.” In “ Green Lantern ,” due next summer, Reynolds plays Hal Jordan, the cocky but courageous test pilot who becomes the first human member of the Green Lantern Corps, an interstellar peacekeeping group armed wi...

Zombieland 2 Update

What's Up With Zombieland 2? Whats going on world, we got some news on the status of Zombieland 2. The long awaited sequel to Zomibeland was put into action soon after the movie was released. Jesse Eisenberg that the first draft of the script in finished and has been turned in to Sony Pictures by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick . Eisenberg has yet to read the script. But  Ruben Fleischer (director of the first film) has had a chance to read the script and this is what he has to say: Yeah, I read it. I mean, it's an early draft and we have plenty more to do to work on it, but I think it's going to be amazing, I'm really excited about it.  Fleischer isn't sure if it will be his next project after 30 Minutes or Less as his name has been attached to a couple other previously-announced projects: "I got a couple irons in the fire, so we'll see, but I'd be psyched to do it. I have this buddy cop movie that I sold to DreamWorks that's pretty ...

Stephen Sommers To Return For G.I. Joe Sequel

Stephen Sommers To Return For G.I. Joe Sequel " G.I. Joe " director Stephen Sommers will return to direct Paramount's sequel. There had been some doubts about whether Sommers would be brought back into the "Joe" fold, as there were conflicting reports across the blogosphere last summer that there had been some tension between Sommers and the studio, but the alleged bad blood appears to have been resolved. Channing Tatum is expected to reprise his role as Capt. Duke Hauser in the sequel, which is still in development at Paramount. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but Collider reported earlier this year that Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (" Zombieland ") were hired to write the sequel, and I'm told that the studio is happy with the draft they turned in. Sommers will likely produce with Lorenzo di Bonaventura. " G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra " grossed more than $300 million worldwide last year on a reported production budge...

"Zombieland" Writers Talking G.I. Joe Sequel. Get Ready For Some New Faces

"Zombieland" Writers Talking G.I. Joe Sequel. Get Ready For Some New Faces I was always a fan of G.I.Joe's as a kid and was super excited when they announced they were going to be making a film,“The Rise of Cobra." But wow was that movie bad. I would have walked out the film if I hadn't paid money for the film. Best part of the film was Ray Park (Snake Eyes) action scenes. I am hoping for a better film with the sequel and the only reason behind my joy is that we got Super talented guys penning the film. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick the guys behind "Zomibeland" They assured us that their “G.I. Joe” sequel will be something closer to the roots of the toyline. So much so, that Reese has already made his own G.I. Joe film… well, kinda. “My very first movie was a ‘G.I. Joe’ movie; I used the little ‘G.I. Joe’ action figures [as my actors],” he said, laughing. “I was like 9; the sad thing was that I figured I could do stop-motion with a video camera - and we...

G.I. JOE 2 Sent Out Special Mission To Zombieland Writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have been in the news this week when it was announced they had officially signed on to pen DEADPOOL for 20th Century Fox. IESB has exclusively learned that not only are these two writing the script for the Merc with the Mouth, they've also just been handed the sequel to G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA that hit theaters this past August with Stephen Sommers at the helm. We've reached out to Paramount and WME and are awaiting further comment. RISE OF COBRA was a big summer success released in theaters August 7 and grossing over $300 million in worldwide box office receipts alone as well as a ton of money in DVD and toy/merchandise sales. Venom Movie Looks Likely To Get Made Soon

Venom Movie Looks Likely To Get Made Soon We can only hope that the Venom Movie that Rhett and Paul wrote will be better then what we saw in Spider-Man #. The only Good part about Spider-Man 3 was our good Friend Michael Papajohn Reprising his role in the movie as Dennis Carradine / Carjacker . Or the Man who killed Uncle Ben? Now Sony is going forward with a Venom spin off movie, which pretty much has fans split down the middle. Will it finally do the fanged black-ooze baddie justice, or will it be more of the same? The good news is that Zombieland co-writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have been tasked with penning the project (Zombieland is awesome, so fingers crossed). Today Wernick confirmed to us that the project is still moving forward and the writing team has turned the script in to the suits at Sony. "We've written two drafts of Venom, and the studio has it, and they're pushing forward in whatever ways they push forward," Wernick told SCI FI Wire in a...
