BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

New Images From #StrangerThings Season 2

Now that the Super Bowl teaser for the show informed us that Stranger Things ' second season will arrive this coming Halloween, Netflix is following that with new images from the next run of episodes. With tight security surrounding the buzzed-about show, not a lot has been released about the future of the story, though we do know that the cast will grow to include the likes of Sean Astin, Paul Reiser and Linnea Berthelsen . See all the images after the Jump... There's a time jump involved, and the new season is set a year later, but, as the end of Season 1 implied, things still don't seem to be quite right with poor old Will Byers ( Noah Schnapp ), and his mother Joyce ( Winona Ryder ) still has reason to be concerned for him. And if you're concerned that the success of the series might mean it stretches on for years, then don't worry: it's on the minds of the creators, too: “Everything changes as we move forward so we’ll see,” Ro

Sean Astin, Paul Reiser, & Linnea Berthelsen Join Stranger Things 2

Let’s face it: We all miss the folks of Hawkins, Indiana. So, thankfully, Stranger Things 2 is about to start production (!) and EW has some exclusive new details on season 2. The Netflix series, created by Ross and Matt Duffer, is adding three new characters, including someone who kind of sounds like the next Eleven. And two of the actors have very important connections to genre films influenced by the Duffers. Danish actress Linnea Berthelsen has been cast as Roman. Per Netflix, she’s “an emotionally damaged, magnetic young woman who suffered a great loss as a child. Although she does not live in Hawkins, she is mysteriously connected to the supernatural events at the lab…” Sean Astin (The Goonies, Lord of the Rings trilogy) will play Bob Newby, “a kindhearted former nerd who went to high school with Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Hopper (David Harbour) and now manages the local Hawkins RadioShack.” Paul Reiser (Aliens, Whiplash) has been cast as Dr. Owens, “a high-ranking mem

Blu-ray Review: Joshy

Indie film is slim but not sans charm. Review by Brandon Wolfe When Josh (Thomas Middleditch, not straying far from Silicon Valley ) arrives home from the gym on a wholly unremarkable day, he is confronted with the self-asphyxiated body of his lovely fiancé Rachel ( Community ’s Alison Brie), hanging by a belt from the doorknob. Rachel, whom we met briefly just moments earlier cooking dinner while not looking the faintest bit troubled, has abruptly chosen to end her life, leaving behind no indication of what it was that made her do it. Josh is stunned. Who wouldn’t be? This is the jarring way that Joshy announces itself. What seems in its opening moments to be a lightweight indie vehicle starring a couple of familiar faces from televised comedy goes in for the kill so viscerally and unexpectedly that it’s more than a little disorienting. But Rachel’s startling demise is first of not too many surprises that Joshy will ultimately spring on us, as it wastes little time tr

Aliens Reunion Happening At Comic Con

July 18 will mark three decades since James Cameron’s Aliens was released in theaters — which is only a little over half the time Sigourney Weaver ’s Ripley spent in hypersleep after the nightmare events of 1979’s Alien . In Cameron’s sequel, she awoke to learn her old life was gone – and new life in the form of a pioneer colony had sprung up on the empty planet where she and the deceased crew of the Nostromo encountered the hyper-predatory Xenomorph. It was not enough time for the two species to learn to live in harmony. To commemorate the release of the 1986 action/sci-fi classic, EW can reveal that San Diego’s Comic-Con will host an Aliens reunion on Saturday, July 23. Both Cameron and Weaver will participate in the Q&A in the 6,500-seat Hall H, along with producer Gale Anne Hurd, Bill “Game Over” Paxton, Lance Henriksen, Paul Reiser, Michael Biehn, and the all-grown-up Carrie Henn . “That should be fun. Get the usual suspects back together,” Cameron says. Weaver sa

Movie Review: 'Concussion'

The NFL head trauma drama is by-the-numbers Oscar bait. Review by Matt Cummings It's hard to find a film these days which surrounds a current event: studios spend so much time worrying about lawsuits that many times a 'topical subject' really isn't so. Fortunately, the film Concussion arrives just in time to reignite old anger about a continuing NFL cover-up. Unfortunately, it's paint-by-the-numbers Oscar bait that neither reaches high emotional drama nor tells the whole story. When former Pittsburgh Steelers star Mike Webster (a very good David Morse) is found dead of an apparent suicide, the pathologist Bennet Omalu (Will Smith) discovers that Webster's brain has been badly damaged through years of hard hits on the gridiron. As he begins to uncover a frightening amount of former players that have also died prematurely, Omalu brands the deaths a result of CTE. But instead of listening to him, the NFL begins a smear campaign to discredit Omalu a
