Production Begins On #BADSANTA2

MIRAMAX AND BROAD GREEN PICTURES ANNOUNCE START OF PRINCIPAL PHOTOGRAPHY ON BAD SANTA 2 All-Star Cast Led by Billy Bob Thornton, Kathy Bates, Christina Hendricks, Tony Cox and Brett Kelly Are Joined by Jenny Zigrino, Ryan Hansen and Jeff Skowron Miramax® and Broad Green Pictures announced today that principal photography has begun in Montréal, Québec, Canada, on BAD SANTA 2, the follow-up to the raucous comedy hit BAD SANTA. Joining the previously announced cast are Ryan Hansen (“Veronica Mars,” “2 Broke Girls”), comedian Jenny Zigrino (50 Shades of Black), and Jeff Skowron (The Good Shepherd). Hansen will play Regent Hastings, who runs a charitable organization with his wife Diane (Christina Hendricks). Zigrino and Skowron play security guards Gina and Dorfman, respectively. Billy Bob Thornton is in negotiations to reprise his foul-mouthed role in a sequel to 2003's " Bad Santa ," TheWrap has learned. "We feel that it’s a Christmas perennial for the R-rated crowd," a Weinstein Company spokesperson confirmed. "Everyone loves the character and Billy Bob’s excited to be in talks with us." Thornton let the cat out of the bag during a panel at this year's SXSW festival where he was promoting his Willie Nelson documentary " The King of Luck ." The actor has made no secret of his desire to play the alcoholic, safe-cracking department store Claus again, but it seems that a deal will now happen sooner rather than later. In December, Miramax announced that it would partner with the Weinstein Company on a follow up to " Bad Santa ," as well as sequels to " Swingers " and " Rounders ."
