The announcement brings Marvel's 2018 releases to three. It's early at Comic-Con 2014, but the news is already starting to flow from the event. Ready to make a big splash, Marvel has announced another release date for an untitled film, this one May 4, 2018. This brings the total number of Marvel films in 2018 to three, and that's not counting other studios which own properties like Spider-man and X-Men. The news comes less than a week after Mouse House claimed five additional other dates from 2017-2019. The news is almost as important as the Wednesday news that Sony had vacated that date for The Amazing Spider-Man 4 as part of its reshuffling of the franchise. But what about learning the actual titles to all of these films? It's clear that we'll get news about many of them this week, as it presents in Hall H on July 26. It's possible that the May 4, 2018 could be set as a Guardians of the Galaxy sequel, but we're hoping for something more

Marvel Studios continues to fill out its calendar and has announced the release dates for five upcoming films. The titles have not been revealed, but the dates revealed on Marvel.com Friday are for July 28 and Nov. 3, 2017; July 6 and Nov. 2, 2018; and May 3, 2019 . Marvel's upcoming films include Guardians of the Galaxy on Aug. 1 , Avengers: Age of Ultron on May 1, 2015 , Ant-Man on July 17, 2015 , and Captain America 3 on May 6, 2016 . Scott Derrickson is attached to direct an upcoming Doctor Strange movie, while third outings for Thor and The Avengers are expected. The Marvel.com announcement teased fans should stay tuned for more on "the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe." ABC is doubling down on Marvel TV shows. First, Agents of SHIELD is returning for a second season. That move was pretty widely expected, despite the show’s somewhat modest ratings performance. Today Empire got an exclusive poster, it's Pepper Potts' turn, with Gwyneth Paltrow cradling Iron Man's helmet in her hands in the latest Iron Man 3 poster. With a huge gash down the front of its face - and its eyes somehow still glowing - the detached metallic noggin is ominous in the extreme, reinforcing the general air of things-are-going-to-get-hairy pervading Iron Man 3's poster run so far. Perhaps this helmet is the same one seen beneath The Mandarin's boot in his poster? Teasers for trailers appear to be a marketing trend that is sticking around, at least until studios figure out how to shoot ads directly into our brains. But when the latest short tease offers a glimpse at new Iron Man 3 footage, we’re not going to complain too much. Check it out below. It’s all part of the campaign around the film’s Super Bowl TV spot, which will debut on Sunday during the game. ABC has ordered a pilot for S.H.I.E.L.D , a live-action series from The Avengers writer-director Joss Whedon, Marvel TV and ABC Studios. The project is based on Marvel’s peacekeeping organization S.H.I.E.L.D (which stands for Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistics Directorate or Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division ) found in both the Marvel comic book and feature film universes, including the blockbuster 2012 movie The Avengers, in which S.H.I.E.L.D director Nick Fury , recruits Iron Man, Captain America, the Hulk, and Thor to stop Thor’s adoptive brother Loki from subjugating Earth. Move over, Game of Thrones – last night at Comic-Con, Hall H became the real House Stark as Marvel unveiled a stunning reel of footage from Iron Man 3 . Not bad going for a film that’s only just started production. But then, showing footage from an Iron Man movie has already become something of a tradition, and good luck charm, for Marvel at Comic-Con. And with interest in Ol’ Shellhead never higher following Six Characters In Search Of A Shawarma Restaurant (or The Avengers, if we must be pedantic), the roof was in danger of obliteration as Robert Downey Jr . took to the stage, swaggering his way through the crowd like a rock star, Iron Man glove on one hand, a la Michael Jackson, and cued the footage… which provoked as many questions as it answered. Spoilers exist within, so be warned: On a day that began with the fairly controversial debut of Stark’s gold-and-red Mk VII I armour on the Comic-Con floor, it seemed somewhat apt that the clip should also kick off with it. After being told by Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige that Tony Stark would be be "cut off from the world and need to focus on his intellects to get himself out of his situation", it was a wonder just how Iron Man 3 writer/director Shane Black would go about it - but now this concept art offers some tantalising clues. Dubbed ' Caged ' by the artist, Ryan Meinerding, the piece shows Mr. Stark in a rather awkward situation: somehow he's ended up with only part of his suit on when he's surrounded by armed assailants. Has his suit been removed (in part) by others? Is this a new suit entirely, with the unusual alternate finger-colouring and all? Is this, in fact, the Extremis armour? Those who've read the Extremis arc of the comic books will be able to draw their own techno-organic and nanobot-based conclusions, but all in all, it's another intriguing glimpse into this new, somehow Avengers-less world of Mr. Stark. Chris Hemsworth , who has been in the middle of two of the summer’s big films in The Avengers and Snow White And The Huntsman , is in the center of the hot package making the rounds right now, even though it’s not exactly a brand new package. Based on the National Book Award-winning book by Nathaniel Philbrick, In The Heart Of The Sea is the fact-based tale of Nantucket whaling ship the Essex, which was stalked and ultimately destroyed by a sperm whale in 1820. Stranded thousands of miles from home, the crew struggled to survive; they were lost at sea for 90 days. Eight were rescued. This version of the project has Joe Roth producing with Paula Weinstein, Will Ward and Palak Patel.
