Movie Review: #SpiderManHomecoming

Iron Spider: Homecoming Rama is back So here’s my review of Iron Spider Homecoming.. ehm.. I meant to say #SpiderManHomecoming. It’s an incredibly fun teen movie but it’s not perfect. I think Tom Holland is a great Peter Parker, he’s got the character down spot on. No offense to Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield but Tom Holland’s version is like straight out of the pages. But with this reboot, they basically plaster Iron Man’s previous drama on to Spider-Man in addition to the new tech-based suit, so I’m not sure if that’s going to sit well with all the fans. The events take place right after the colossal airport fight in “Captain America: Civil War,” young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland) is stoked about helping Iron Man and looking forward to the next mission. But he seems to have been sidelined by his new mentor, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) Peter goes about his high school life with his best friend and decathlon classmates, when Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as ...

#MarvelCollectorCorps Review: December 2016

Marvel Collector Corps ends 2016 on a high note with their very good X-MEN box. Review by Matt Cummings It's been an interesting first year for Funko's Marvel Collector Corps. Having experienced a terrific opening, the subscription box service descended into chaos with its disastrous Marvel STUPOR BOX and August's less-than-awesome SPIDER-MAN. With October's DOCTOR STRANGE, we witnessed the uneven nature of what these boxes have become, displaying Funko's best and worst faces and making us wonder if our money would be better spent someplace else. As the final box of the year arrives in X-MEN, we see all the splendor of what a great box can deliver, even though we've been able to read between the lines of Funko's message. The Promise Before we begin, let's look at the original deal and MCC's current offering: promising a value of $50, regular boxes would keep the "fluff" (their words) to a minimum with Funko partnering ea...

#MarvelCollectorCorps Review: October 2016

Our (once again) late arrival of Marvel Collector Corps' DOCTOR STRANGE box shows the sub's best and worst faces. Review by Matt Cummings Funko's Marvel Collector Corps was once the top of the heap of sub boxes. But with the disastrous Marvel Stupor Box and August's less-than-awesome Spider-man, we're beginning to look elsewhere. This month's Doctor Strange box is no different, at once displaying Funko's best and worst faces as we consider our future investment. The Promise Before we begin, let's look at the original deal and MCC's current offering: promising a value of $50, regular boxes would keep the "fluff" (their words) to a minimum with Funko partnering each time to deliver an exclusive figure. Regardless if you joined at the Founders level or took on a per-box delivery, the Year One box was offered for an additional cost of $135 after tax. That's approximately the price of 4 regular boxes. Founders (like mys...
