BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

No New Trailer Or Footage For The Star Wars: The Force Awakens At #D23

EW is reporting that if you’re waiting for a new Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer at Disney’s D23 fan convention this weekend … sorry, you are going to have to keep waiting. The movie, which opens Dec. 18, will be part of Saturday’s presentation of live-action films, but it will not feature new clips, Entertainment Weekly has learned from a reliable source. In July, we told you that the Lucasfilm Comic-Con panel also wouldn’t have a trailer, and it didn’t, but it featured a behind-the-scenes video that was almost as tantalizing. This time, whatever revelations may be in store at the Anaheim fan gathering will not involve seeing sections of the movie. For doubters, I may as well reveal that “reliable source”… “It is true, we are showing no footage, behind the scenes or otherwise,” director J.J. Abrams tells EW. “In the fall, there’ll be a trailer.” He knows fans are eager for another look at the film and promises to bring something compelling to the Disney conventioneer

Could Benicio Del Toro Be The Villain In Star Wars: Episode VIII

Rian Johnson is directing the sci-fi sequel for Disney and Lucasfilm, which will release the movie in 2017. Benicio del Toro has the offer to play the villain in “ Star Wars: Episode VIII ,” multiple individuals familiar with casting process have told TheWrap . Discussions are still in the very early stages, but Disney and Lucasfilm are high on the Oscar-winning “Traffic” star. A representative for Disney did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Del Toro would be a strong fit for the sci-fi sequel, as he’s able to conjure menace on a whim. He’d also continue “Force Awakens” director J.J. Abrams’ diverse vision for the “Star Wars” universe that will be led by John Boyega, Daisy Ridley and Oscar Isaac going forward. Rian Johnson is directing “Star Wars: Episode VIII,” which is expected to start shooting early next year in advance of a May 26, 2017 release date. Ram Bergman is producing the film with Lucasfilm’s Kathy Kennedy. Del Toro is already a member of the D

Darth Vader To Appear In #RogueOne

Birth.Movies.Death is reporting Darth Vader will make an appearance in Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One. And this story itself is pretty cool - a ragtag group of heroes and scoundrels united in an effort to steal the plans of the Death Star. It's the kind of off-screen action that has sparked our imaginations for decades, and done right it could be an exciting addition to the mythology. Done wrong and it'll be a total bummer. And by the way - it has nothing to do with Bothans. That's Return of the Jedi you're thinking of. Hopefully this weekend at Comic-Con we will get some more information about the film, but in the meantime I have a tiny tidbit to share. I ran into a good source this past weekend and, over drinks, was told a nugget that should make people pretty intrigued: Darth Vader will be in Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One. He will not be the main antagonist but he will be working behind the scenes, pulling strings and will appear onscreen. Literally, I'm t

#GwendolineChristie As Captain Phasma From Star Wars: #TheForceAwakens

Game of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie in all her helmeted glory. ICYMI-New Images & Video From Star Wars: #TheForceAwakens This portrait is official confirmation of the rumors that have been circulating for a while now. You weren’t imagining it; that was the lanky Brienne of Tarth stalking through halls and chasing the Millennium Falcon in the most recent trailer. Though many fans have already nicknamed her “ The Chrometrooper ,” Christie’s character is actually named Captain Phasma and is a member of the First Order —the film’s new version of the evil Empire. But should we really assume that Christie’s Phasma is pure evil? In a franchise where a rakish smuggler can get the princess, a Sith Lord can be redeemed, and a stormtrooper can be a potential hero, anything can happen. Christie, who spends most of her scenes in HBO’s Game of Thrones clad in armor, should be used to wearing a bulky metal suit, but, between you and me, I can’t wait to see her with that helmet off.

New Images & Video From Star Wars: #TheForceAwakens

May the fourth seems like the right day to be publishing new pictures and details from this December’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens , which is why Vanity Fair picked it to run some images from its big cover feature shot by star photographer Annie Leibovitz, who visited the set last year. See all the images and video after the Jump... Among the information carried by the magazine’s online piece on the photoshoot and film is final confirmation that Driver is playing the villainous Kylo Ren (and that he wields the much-discussed “broadsaber”), and, much more interestingly, we know that Lupita Nyong’o is playing a pirate named Maz Kanata and that her character will be brought to life using CGI based on her performance capture work. Also in the piece? Co-writer/director J.J. Abrams joking about revealing the fate of one particularly controversial character (“I have a thought about putting Jar Jar Binks’s bones in the desert there.” Abrams says about a
