BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Han Solo Casting Narrowing Down

Variety is reporting Disney and Lucasfilm are inching closer to finding their young Han Solo for the upcoming untitled “ Star Wars ” spinoff. After seeing thousands of actors, execs have cut the list down to about a dozen actors with Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Dave Franco, Jack Reynor, Scott Eastwood, Logan Lerman , “Brooklyn” star Emory Cohen and “Everybody Wants Some” actor Blake Jenner among the names making the cut. NDAs and test deals are still being worked out, but producer Kathleen Kennedy and directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller will begin testing the new group with a decision expected in the next couple of weeks. The film does not shoot until next January, but sources close to the situation say the reason for such an early decision has more to do with another “Star Wars” film currently shooting, rather than the untitled “Han Solo” pic. While insiders were unable to confirm, the new Solo could have a small cameo in “Rogue One: A Star Wars” before appearing in his own

Felicity Jones To Star In The Star Wars Stand-Alone Film

After a series of hush-hush readings and tests, Lucasfilm and Disney have zeroed in on Oscar-nominated actress Felicity Jones for the female lead in the Star Wars stand-alone film. Jones is now in talks to star in the project, which Gareth Edwards is directing and Chris Weitz — who was just hired last week — is writing. Weitz is replacing Gary Whitta, who penned the first draft. Actresses were meeting, reading and testing last week in Los Angeles for the role, with Tatiana Maslany and Rooney Mara among those in the mix. The secrecy surrounding the project is thicker than the mists of Dagobah, and it is even unclear which character the stand-alone is focusing on. Sources say that Aaron Paul and Edgar Ramirez are on the interest list for the male lead. Disney had no comment. The movie has a release date of Dec. 16, 2016. Jones is currently making the awards season rounds for The Theory of Everything, for which she snagged a best actress Oscar nomination for her portraya

Lucasfilm To Straighten Out The Star Wars Universe

The galaxy far, far away is looking to get more organized. The many, many characters and events that make up the sprawling " Star Wars " saga will soon be part of one cohesive unit as the gang at Lucasfilm is looking to make the stories told in comic books, novel tie-ins, television series and video games as 'official' as those in the feature films. It's long been accepted that the " Star Wars " feature films represent true " Star Wars " canon, with material from the other mediums (known as the " Star Wars Expanded Universe ") usually only serving as elaborate fan fiction. Now, Lucasfilm Story Group is taking the gargantuan task of making everything count. "' Star Wars' Canon is now determined by the Lucasfilm Story Group which [Pablo Hidalgo] and I are both a part of," recently tweeted Leland Chee, explaining that the organization "has a hand in all facets of 'Star Wars' storytelling, includin

Josh Trank To Direct Star Wars Spin-Off Film

He's busy now working with Fox on the Fantastic Four reboot at the moment, but very soon Josh Trank will head over to Lucasfilm for one of the planned Star Wars standalone films, joining Godzilla and Monsters' Gareth Edwards in the ranks of impressive young directors heading to a galaxy far, far away. "We’re thrilled to welcome Josh into the family," says Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy in a press release. "He is such an incredible talent and has a great imagination and sense of innovation. That makes him perfectly suited to Star Wars , and for this new slate of movies that reach beyond the core characters and storylines of Episodes I through IX.” "The magic of the Star Wars Universe defined my entire childhood," Trank himself adds. "The opportunity to expand on that experience for future generations is the most incredible dream of all time." Details are thin on the ground, but we do know that at least three spin-offs are plan

Star Wars Universe Returns To Marvel Comics In 2015

DISNEY'S LUCASFILM AND MARVEL ENTERTAINMENT JOIN FORCES TO PUBLISH STAR WARS COMICS AND GRAPHIC NOVELS . Jedi, Sith, and the Rest of the Star Wars Universe Come to Marvel Comics in 2015 The Walt Disney Company's Lucasfilm Ltd. and Marvel Entertainment are joining forces to bring new Star Wars adventures to readers across the galaxy, with Marvel granted exclusive rights to create and publish Star Wars comics and graphic novels beginning in 2015. The agreement marks a homecoming for the Star Wars comic books. Marvel Comics published the first Star Wars comic book, Star Wars #1, in March 1977, which went on to sell more than 1 million copies. Marvel Comics published its Star Wars series for nine years. In 1991, Dark Horse Comics took over the license, publishing fan favorite titles like Dark Empire and Star Wars: Legacy. Last year, Dark Horse released The Star Wars #1, an adaptation of George Lucas' original rough-draft screenplay for the film, garnering rave reviews a

LucasFilm And Dark Horse Announce THE STAR WARS!

LUCASFILM AND DARK HORSE ANNOUNCE THE BIGGEST EVENT IN THE HISTORY OF STAR WARS COMICS! George Lucas’s original-draft screenplay for The Star Wars to be adapted by J. W. Rinzler and Mike Mayhew! It’s no April Fools’ prank! Dark Horse is honored to announce a dream project: working with J.W. Rinzler, executive editor at LucasBooks, and artist Mike Mayhew (Avengers) to adapt the rough-draft original screenplay which spawned the biggest franchise in film history! Three years before his 1977 film, George Lucas put down on paper his first story set in a galaxy far, far away—a tale of fantastic adventures, daring escapes, “lazer swords,” romance, and monsters. A story of Jedi Annikin Starkiller and General Luke Skywalker, an alien named Han Solo, and evil Sith Knights. The screenplay was titled The Star Wars! “I’m not sure where I first read about The Star Wars—it was years and years ago—but the idea of Luke Skywalker being an older Jedi General, and Han Solo being a six-foo

JJ Abrams Talks Episode VII.

Mention the name JJ Abrams and there’s one question that immediately barges all others aside: what’s the plan for Episode VII ? While he was able to approach Star Trek with a detached objectivity, how will he, as a huge Star Wars fan approach Star Wars' bold new era? Empire put that question to the man himself when we recently sat down with him at his Bad Robot offices in LA. “I don’t know because we’re just getting started. So it’s a great question that I hope I’ll have a good answer to when I know what the answer is. There are infinitely more questions than answers right now, but to me, they’re not that dissimilar. Though I came at these both from very different places, where they both meet is a place of ‘Ooh, that’s really exciting.’ And even though I was never a Star Trek fan, I felt like there was a version of it that would make me excited, that I would think ‘that’s cool, that feels right, I actually would want to see that. “How we were going to get there, what the choi

Star Wars Stand Alone Film In The Works

"Yoda: Jedi Master" has a nice ring to it, doesn't it? Or maybe just " The Jedi Master ." Well, before it can have a title, it has to actually exist, and for now a stand-alone "Star Wars" film that puts the powerful pint-sized denizen of Dagobah front and center is just the latest rumor to come out of a galaxy far, far away (well, not that far anymore -- it's now at Disneyland, after all). Ain't It Cool News first brought word that Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy might be doing a lot more than just having secret meetings with J.J. Abrams as she's apparently in the early stages of what Disney does best: milking a brand for all it's worth. Sure, Abrams is going to be directing " Episode VII ," but there's more than just a new "Star Wars" trilogy in store -- we're going to be getting a bunch of spinoff films as well, and if Zack Snyder's rumored (and since denied) Jedi-centric riff on " S

You thought the news that we heard on TUESDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2012, when Disney purchased LucasFilms was the end of the conversation. Oh no. The talk about the upcoming film will never end until it hits theaters in 2015. We uncovered a part 2 to the interview with George Lucas and LucasFilm president Kathleen Kennedy. In the interview Kathleen Kennedy and George Lucas discuss the next steps in making new Star Wars movies, including selecting a director and what Lucas' role will be. Here is Part one of the interview-  Please Leave A Comment-

Star Wars: Episode VII To Recruit Toy Story 3 Scribe?

The shocking and downright exhilarating news of Disney purchasing Lucasfilm and announcing new Star Wars adventures on the way did not come as a surprise to everyone. Within the two companies, negotiations had been going on for months. And George Lucas even said that he’d written outlines for at least three more films. Now we seemingly know who has turned them into a treatment for Star Wars: Episode VII and beyond… Toy Story 3’s Michael Arndt . Vulture , which is currently in the market for a place to unload many Bothan spy bodies, brings word that Arndt had quietly been hired to start cranking out the treatment long before the shockwave October 30 announcement. No official nod to the fact has been given, but Arndt is most certainly a good call. After winning an Oscar for Little Miss Sunshine , he was recruited by Disney / Pixar to write the third Toy Story film and delivered something truly special. He’s also been at work on other projects, including the still untitled Pixa

George Lucas Does An Amazing Thing. To Donate $4 Billion To Fund Education

By the end of the year, the $4.05 billion sale of Lucasfilm to Disney should be finalized. And since George Lucas owns 100 percent of his company - which has little to no debt - all that money goes to him. After that, Lucas plans to quickly put the bulk of the money into a foundation which will primarily focus on educational issues, a spokesperson for Lucasfilm tells THR . “ George Lucas has expressed his intention, in the event the deal closes, to donate the majority of the proceeds to his philanthropic endeavors.”  It's not yet clear which foundation will get the proceeds. Lucas is currently the chairman of Edutopia, which is part of the George Lucas Educational Foundation. He could put money into that or create a new foundation which would be funded from the sale. The Foundation was the vehicle Lucas used to make a $175 million donation to his alma mater USC in 2006. He has also given to many other causes over the years including the Film Foundation, Stand Up To Ca

Disney Buys Lucas Films. Plan For A New Star Wars Film In 2015

Today we felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in disbelief… And were silenced by hard truth. Yes, the Walt Disney corporate Death Star has gone on another acquisition mission, buying up Lucasfilm for the handsome sum of kee oto* But the even bigger news to come out of the announcement? The companies are planning a new entry in the Star Wars franchise for 2015 . The jokes, of course, came almost as fast as the questions of whether it was actually true. But it is, and George Lucas himself was part of the announcement. “For the past 35 years, one of my greatest pleasures has been to see Star Wars passed from one generation to the next,” said Lucas, chairman and CEO of Lucasfilm, in a statement. “It’s now time for me to pass Star Wars on to a new generation of filmmakers. I’ve always believed that Star Wars could live beyond me, and I thought it was important to set up the transition during my lifetime.  “I’m confident that with Luca

What Is Star Wars 1313?

Late last year, the registration of a few new Lucasfilm domain names clued us in to a mystery project that would eventually become the museum exhibit Star Wars: Identities . Now George Lucas and company have registered a few more, leaving us with another mystery: What is Star Wars 1313 ? Last week, Lucasfilm registered eight domains via the Corporate Service Company, all centered around 1313: StarWars1313.com, SW1313.com, 1313starwars.com, 1313starwars.net, 1313sw.com, 1313sw.net, starwars1313.com, starwars1313.net, sw1313.com, and sw1313.net. With no official announcement of anything new from Lucasfilm yet, fan theories are beginning to emerge. The most prominent so far is that Star Wars 1313 could be a Boba Fett film. Captain America director (and former Star Wars VFX technician) Joe Johnston really wants to make one, but what does 1313 have to do with it? Well, in the young reader novel Boba Fett: Maze of Deception , the bounty hunter uses the alias " CT-1313 "

RED TAILS Movie Review By: RAMA

RED TAILS Movie Review By: RAMA So did RED TAILS inspire RAMA ? Make sure to follow him on Facebook and twitter and show your love for his reviews. This could be THE inspiring movie to honor Tuskegee airmen, those brave fighter pilots, this has so much potential but unfortunately RED TAILS ’ weak script and mediocre direction doesn’t allow the film to achieve greatness. It’s good that somebody managed to bring this important true historical story to the big screen, I commend director Anthony Hemingway, producer George Lucas, screenwriters John Ridley and Aaron McGruder for doing that but I think RED TAILS could be a better film without any of their involvement.. As the war in Europe continues to take its dire toll on Allied forces, Pentagon brass has no recourse but to reconsider these under-utilized pilots for combat duty. Just as the young Tuskegee men are on the brink of being shut down and shipped back home, Col. A.J. Bullard (Terrence Howard) awards them the ultimate chan
